As North Texas prepares to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the U.S. Secret Service and federal partners are working closely to welcome world leaders and ensure the safety of all attendees.

Christina Foley, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Dallas Field Office and Federal Coordinator for the World Cup in Dallas, is leading these efforts—overseeing security at matches and fan events, while preparing for visits from heads of state and heads of government.

On Thursday, the U.S. Secret Service’s National Threat Assessment Center (NTAC), Houston Field Office, and Lone Star College Police Department brought together experts from NTAC, federal, and local agencies at Lone Star College System Office in The Woodlands to educate our public safety partners from across the region on preventing targeted violence.

Houston Field Office Acting Special Agent in Charge Thomas Rizza welcomed attendees from across Texas and Louisiana.

Speakers—including the Lone Star College Guardian Team, violence prevention advocates and NTAC researchers—shared research findings and practical guidance on identifying concerning behaviors, early intervention, and building multidisciplinary teams to enhance community safety.

We’re actively raising awareness and providing resources to help prevent mass attacks and promote safety across the nation.

“Those who exploit uncertainty and hardship for personal profit undermine the safety and security of our communities,” said Special Agent in Charge Christina Foley of the U.S. Secret Service Dallas Field Office. In today’s world, nearly every case has a digital evidence component. These K9s can sniff out flash drives, hard drives, memory cards, and cell phones—even when suspects try to hide them.

Their specialized skills play an important role in case investigations—from robberies and homicides to child exploitation. The dogs and their handlers receive specialized training from the Secret Service at the National Computer Forensics Institute. These K9 teams are also available to assist other jurisdictions as needed.
