The native plant garden at Jackie Townsell Bear Creek Heritage Center is a beautiful example of why our Texas plants are so important.
How native plants can benefit your home (according to the city of Irving website!)
Native plants can reduce your water bill! We all know the summer chore of watering daily to keep plants alive in the Texas heat! Native plants will often require less maintenance.
It is less expensive to prevent stormwater runoff pollution than to remove it. If concentrations of pesticides and fertilizers in runoff continue to increase, costly options to treat runoff will be necessary and will result in higher local taxes.
And our personal favorite, native plants invite native regional animals to visit your garden. Your yard can become a tranquil setting to watch and learn about birds and butterflies.
