ππ π π Swiftwater Rescue Training β Working Together to Keep Our Communities Safe
The Seneca Special Services Unit (SSU), a combined team of Seneca Fire-Cattaraugus Territory and Seneca EMS, partnered with the Gowanda Fire Department to host a Swiftwater Rescue training course this weekend at Gowanda Fire.
Members of Seneca Fire, Seneca EMS, Gowanda Fire, and Springville Fire came together with instructors for hands-on training focused on safely and effectively operating in swiftwater environments.
Swiftwater rescue is a technical rescue discipline requiring specialized training, equipment, and teamwork. Flooding, heavy rainfall, severe storms, and rapidly rising waterways can create dangerous conditions with little warning.
Training together is especially important because emergencies don't recognize jurisdictional boundaries. When a major flooding or water rescue incident occurs, these are the responders and departments that may be working side by side.
A big thank you to our instructors, Gowanda Fire- Chief Raiport for hosting, Seneca Fire - Chief P. Redeye, Seneca EMS - Chief M.Redeye and all the responders who dedicated their weekend to training and strengthening our regional response capabilities.
Better trained. Better prepared. Stronger together. πππ
