Isanti Fire District We currently have 34 men and women working as paid-on-call firefighters within our department. The joint powers agreement has proven to be a great success.

On December 28, 2005, the Isanti Fire Department went through some changes, which resulted in the transformation into the Isanti Area Joint Operating Fire District, or the Isanti Fire District. The Isanti Fire District is operated by each of the entities that are serviced. 6 Townships and the City of Isanti have 1 person from their council attend board meetings, where together they make the decisions that maintain our operations.

🚒 YOU ARE NOT ALONE. ❤️

Today, on World Mental Health Day, we want to remind our fellow first responders, their families, and our entire community of something important:

It's okay to not be okay.

As firefighters and first responders, we're trained to run toward emergencies, help others through their worst moments, and be the ones people count on. But sometimes, the person who needs help is the one wearing the uniform.

Behind every helmet, badge, and uniform is a person. Someone who experiences stress, grief, anxiety, and challenges just like everyone else.

Asking for help isn't a sign of weakness. It's a sign of strength.

Whether you're a first responder carrying the weight of difficult calls or someone in our community facing a personal struggle, you don't have to face it alone.

❤️ Resources for First Responders:

- 📱 Text BADGE to 741741 for confidential crisis support.
- 🔥 Minnesota Firefighters: https://mnfire.org/ — Mental health resources and support specifically for Minnesota's fire service.

💚 Resources for Everyone:

- 📞 Call or text 988 — Su***de & Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7.

And remember, sometimes the most important thing we can do is check on each other. Reach out to a friend, a coworker, a family member, or someone you haven't heard from in a while.

You never know what someone might be carrying behind a smile.

It's okay to not be okay. You are not alone. We are stronger together. ❤️

🔥 Got Burning Questions? Ask a Firefighter! 🚒

Ever wonder how heavy our gear is, how we train, or what happens when an emergency call comes in? Now’s your chance to ask!

As we wrap up Fire Prevention Week, we’re opening the comments to YOUR questions—about fire safety, life at the station, our equipment, or becoming a firefighter. 👇

👨‍🚒 Have a new Junior Firefighter at home? Let them ask a question, too! We’d also love to hear their favorite part of visiting with our crew.

Drop your burning questions below! 💬

🚨 Sound the Al-arm! A Fire Safety Week update from Chief Al Jankovich 🚨

While this year’s focus has been on lithium-ion battery safety, it’s also the time of year when our firefighters host open house events, welcome school groups to our fire stations, and visit local daycares! 🚒

These visits give kids a chance to meet their firefighters, explore our gear and equipment, and learn what to do in an emergency—all while having some fun.

During this day’s event, we certified about 135 kids as Junior Firefighters! 👨‍🚒👩‍🚒

Don’t be surprised if you see them wearing their new gear or conducting a fire safety home inspection after their visit. Most will accept ice cream as currency! 🍦😉

Thank you to the families, teachers, and daycare providers who help us bring fire safety lessons home. We’re proud of our newest Junior Firefighters!

🔋🔥 Charge into Fire Safety!

Lithium-ion batteries power our phones, tablets, toys, power tools, e-bikes, and more. If damaged or used incorrectly, they can overheat, catch fire, or explode. A few simple habits can help keep your family safe:

✅ Purchase devices listed by a nationally recognized testing laboratory.
✅ Follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
✅ Use only the battery designed for your device, and install it correctly.
✅ Use only the charging cord that came with the device.
✅ Keep charging devices off beds, couches, and pillows.
✅ Unplug devices once they are fully charged.
✅ Keep batteries at room temperature when possible. Never charge below 32°F or above 105°F.
✅ Store batteries away from anything that can catch fire.

🚲 Charging an e-bike? Choose a flat, dry area away from children, direct sunlight, liquids, and tripping hazards. Make sure the bike cannot fall over.

⚠️ Know the warning signs!
Stop using a battery if you notice unusual heat, swelling, discoloration, leaking, strange odors, or odd noises. If a device begins smoking or catches fire, get everyone out and call 911 from a safe location.

♻️ Recycle responsibly!
Lithium-ion batteries do NOT belong in household trash or regular recycling bins. Find a battery recycling location at https://www.call2recycle.org.

🏠 Take a minute today to check where—and how—your family charges its devices!
