Our Story
KENDAL AT ITHACA
The first Life Care Community in New York State, Kendal at Ithaca has been welcoming new residents since December 1995. People who choose Kendal at Ithaca are a diverse group but share certain common characteristics. They are planners who leave little to chance, and who want to make their own decisions about their futures. Kendal at Ithaca residents enjoy intellectual stimulation and purpose with the assurance of care when needed. Kendal at Ithaca sits on a picturesque rolling 105 - acre site, nestled in the Finger Lakes region, famous for award-winning wines. We are just minutes from downtown Ithaca, recognized as one of the best small cities in America. Nearby waterfalls, world class college campuses and an active performance scene offer endless opportunities for residents to create new and exciting chapters in their lives.

Did you have a favorite?

Residents and staff at Kendal at Ithaca recently put their baking skills to the test in a fun-filled judged bake-off.

One resident even made his entry extra special by using apples picked from the apple tree right behind his cottage!

Events like these remind us that life at Kendal is about more than where you live; it’s about the friendships you build and the experiences you share.

Two of our own, Lorie Wasilawski and Taylor Beeman, recently traveled to Delaware for an in-person session of the Kendal Leadership Fellows Program.

The program brings employees together from across the Kendal system to learn from one another, build connections, and explore leadership through Kendal’s values, personal reflection, and shared experiences.

The Delaware session featured a special Kendal Leaders in Residence experience, where Fellows heard directly from Kendal leaders and asked questions about the experiences, challenges, and pivotal moments that shaped their leadership journeys.

Among the leaders sharing their stories was Laurie Mante, CEO of Kendal at Ithaca, who offered her own perspective and experiences along the way.

We’re proud to have Lorie and Taylor representing Kendal at Ithaca and look forward to the ideas, connections, and inspiration they bring back to our community!

It’s a "hot" and important topic..

Staff observed as smoke rapidly filled a makeshift interior space during our annual (and mandatory) Emergency Operations and Fire Safety Training. Employees learned how to safely handle and prepare for various emergency scenarios, with a focus on ensuring the safety of both staff and residents. The presenters were excellent, and the presentations were interactive and hands-on.

"What drew me to Kendal? " - that was the question we recently asked as we celebrated "Spirit Week" here at Kendal.

Spirit week was an opportunity to celebrate the official launch of our new logo, and a recognition of what it represents- a community of staff, residents and partners who care deeply about making this a great place to work and to live. Many thanks to all for your participation!

Evidently, 100 is the new 70! This week, Kendal at Ithaca celebrated with a party for two residents who both turned 100.🎉🍾🎈

The community came together to celebrate these two incredible centenarians with cake, laughter, and lots of love. There were songs, toasts, food, drinks, and most importantly, friendship.

Happy 100th Birthday to two truly remarkable people. You've shown us that growing older is something to celebrate and that 100 looks pretty amazing!
