The graphic novels are in and waiting, and we still have a couple seats left in our next Panel by Panel Graphic Novel Book Club!
For November, the group will read and discuss 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘚𝘺𝘭𝘷𝘪𝘢 by Tillie Walden, the true story of an openly Le***an couple that survives and thrives in 19th century Vermont.

Last week your Library welcomed Professor Kurt Jordan from Cornell University College of Arts and Sciences to lead a discussion on the history, culture, and language of indigenous peoples in the Cayuga Lake Region. The nearly 90-minute presentation and Q-and-A session touched on topics from prehistoric times to the present day, while also addressing misnomers and misconceptions about the Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫˀ people and the larger Haudenosaunee Confederacy.

The presentation was the first in Cornell University’s Arts Unplugged Series: Language, Memory, Future: Celebrating 250 Years of Language in Our Region. Up next, TCPL will welcome Teaching Professor Brenda Schertz for "Where ASL Lives: Language, Place, and Deaf Community Identity." You can watch that program in-person at TCPL on Thursday, October 29 at 6:30 p.m. It will also stream on our YouTube Channel.

🚧Construction Alert🚧
The City of Ithaca's months-long effort to improve sidewalks and pedestrian infrastructure has come to your Library's front door. This week and next week (through approximately 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟲𝘁𝗵) crews are working to upgrade the ADA curb ramps at all four corners of the intersection of East Green Street and Cayuga Street. Today they're on the northwest corner, but eventually they will work their way to the corner right in front of the Library entrance.
Note: Access to your Library will remain available throughout the work!
But, to give crews room to work, some of the parking on S. Cayuga Street is blocked off, which unfortunately includes the closest accessible spaces.
Street parking remains available on the opposite side of S. Cayuga Street as well as N. Cayuga Street and the Cayuga Street and Green Street Parking Decks.

It's the final weekend for the Friends of the Tompkins County Public Library Book Sale! That means ultra low prices that go lower each day.
On Saturday - everything on the main floor (excluding Collector's Corner) is 50¢ or less, with some items costing just a dime. On Sunday, the most expensive items are just a quarter. Monday is dime day, when you can load up on books for just 10¢ each. Tuesday is bag day - stuff a grocery bag full of books for just a buck!

We're heading into knit hat, scarves, mittens and sweater weather. Whether you're a knitter, crocheter, needle-pointer, or some other stitcher, you're welcome to come in to the Makerspace to find community with others who share your interest, work on your project or even get some pointers.
The Stitch Club meets every other Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. They meet next October 23rd, and will meet November 6th and November 20th next month.
Open to everyone 16 and up with any experience level.
