The Precious Lama in the Land of India
A Poem of Faith, Compassion, and the Sacred Bond Between Teacher and Disciple
The precious spiritual master dwells in the land of India,
Deep and unwavering faith lives in the land of Tibet.
The profound teachings of the Buddha flourish in India,
Devotion to the Dharma lives in the hearts of Tibetans.
The Lama’s compassion shines like the radiant sun,
The faith of the Tibetan people blossoms like a lotus flower.
Though countless mountains stand between India and Tibet,
No mountain can ever separate the love between master and disciple.
The snow-covered homeland of Tibet remains deep within our hearts,
The sacred land of India is a blessed home of the Dharma.
May the sacred bond between spiritual master and disciple
Remain unbroken throughout all lifetimes to come.
May the light of compassion, the strength of faith, and the wisdom of the Dharma forever unite the hearts of teachers and disciples, beyond mountains, borders, and lifetimes.

A Lifetime of Friendship, Dharma, and Gratitude

It is truly a wonderful feeling to reunite with my Dharma brothers after such a long time. We grew up together like brothers in the same monastery, sharing our lives, studies, prayers, and spiritual journeys under the guidance of our most precious teacher, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

When I look back over more than 30 years, I realize how extraordinarily fortunate we have been. We belonged to the same monastery, followed the same spiritual path, and received countless precious teachings and blessings from one of the greatest spiritual masters of our time, His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

To have had the extraordinary opportunity to receive His Holiness’s teachings for more than three decades is a blessing beyond words. Sometimes, it feels almost unbelievable that we have been so fortunate in this lifetime.

As a monk of Namgyal Monastery, I feel deeply grateful, humbled, and blessed. The friendships we formed through the Dharma are not ordinary friendships. They are lifelong spiritual bonds, strengthened by our shared devotion, experiences, and the immeasurable kindness of our beloved teacher.

How fortunate we are to have been born in this lifetime, to have met the precious Dharma, and to have received the teachings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

From the bottom of my heart, I offer my deepest gratitude to His Holiness for his boundless compassion, wisdom, and guidance throughout our lives.

Forever grateful and proud to be a Namgyal monk. 🙏🙏

Facing Adversity: Stories from our lives

In our diverse and often conflicted world, adversity can arise from many sources: not getting what we want or desperately need, such as food or shelter, losing something we treasure, such as a home or a loved one, and meeting with circumstances we don't want or deserve, including illness or chronic pain, and continuous unjust treatment from others.

Each of us responds to adversity in different ways. And over time we might respond differently to the same situation, whether with anger, anxiety, frustration, and despair, or moving to resilience, resolve, compassion, acts of loving-kindness, and newfound joy. These responses are all real, valid, and part of the process of being in this world.

Come to this conference and listen to the stories told by others. Share your own stories. Deepen your understanding of what it is to be human in this world of ours.

Time has revealed the truth of the great masters’ predictions. Their words were not empty promises, nor touched by deception; they arose from profound wisdom and have unfolded exactly as foretold.”
