🚸 Know Your Crosswalks and the Law 🚸
Yesterday morning, while our Vista Resource Officer was helping the Crossing Guards set up cones on Center Street, FOUR cars failed to stop while the crossing guards and the Officer were still in the crosswalk.

* LADDER CROSSWALK (a.k.a. Ladder to Learning):
Marked by ladder bars on the road and usually a school zone sign with two people.
Law: STOP for anyone in the crosswalk no matter which side of the road they’re on and stay stopped until they are completely out of the crosswalk.
This applies at ALL TIMES, not just during school hours or when a crossing guard is present. Utah Code § 41-6a-1002(2)

* PARALLEL CROSSWALK: Two simple parallel white lines.
Law: Yield to pedestrians on your half of the road or close enough to be in danger if you proceed. Utah Code § 41-6a-1002(1)

No matter the type, always slow down and look for pedestrians.

Let’s keep our Kids, Crossing Guards, and Resources Officers safe. It’s not just a courtesy, it’s the LAW.

Please be advised of an upcoming road closure on 1362 West Keleva Trail in Ivins from July 28 to August 28 for gas service work.

* Local traffic will still have access, but we encourage residents to plan ahead and use alternate routes if possible.

* A map of the closure area is attached for your convenience.

Since today is Pioneer Day in Utah, I wish to express my gratitude and love for the pioneers of Ivins. From its meager beginnings, Ivins' residents rallied together to begin building what we all enjoy today. My parents moved to Ivins in 1964 and I have called Ivins my home ever since. I have valued the close-knit community and wonderful people who once lived here, now live here and will continue to live here. This is my happy place!
Residents have gathered often to celebrate and enjoy friendships. The larger crowd of people I have posted a picture of included me as a small child. Heritage Days, in September, is another opportunity for community to gather and enjoy community and friendship. Hope to see you all there. Happy Pioneer Day.
