Jackson Township firefighters gathered today to honor and remember the 2,977 people who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, including the 343 members of the FDNY who made the ultimate sacrifice while responding to the attacks.

During the memorial service, the names of each of the 343 FDNY firefighters were read aloud, followed by the sounding of the bell in remembrance of their sacrifice.

We also remembered two of our own—John Hussey and James Howles—who responded to Manhattan with Rescue Truck 5503 in the aftermath of the attacks.

Firefighters from Station 54 (Jackson Mills), Station 55 (Jackson No. 1), and Station 57 (Fire District 2) came together to honor those who were lost and to ensure that their sacrifice is never forgotten.

We would also like to thank Jackson Township Council Member Nino Borrelli for stopping by, spending time with our firefighters, and speaking with our first responders.
