💗✨ OCTOBER IS NATIONAL PRINCIPALS MONTH! ✨💗

💙💚 Help us celebrate our very own, Principal Barnes! 🐬🌊

Behind every thriving school is a leader who pours her heart into making a difference! At Bates Elementary, we are fortunate to have a principal who leads with VISION, COURAGE, PASSION, and HEART! 💕

If you’ve spent any time around Principal Barnes, you’ve probably heard her famous motto:

🗣️ “DO YOUR JOB AND DO IT WELL!” 💯👏🏽

And she doesn’t just say it—SHE LEADS BY EXAMPLE! From setting high expectations to celebrating the smallest victories, Principal Barnes continuously challenges our staff and scholars to give their very best in everything they do.

Her leadership reminds us that excellence isn’t something we do occasionally; it’s a standard we strive to uphold EVERY SINGLE DAY! 🌟

From early mornings to late evenings, her dedication to our scholars, staff, families, and the entire Bates community does not go unnoticed.

🎉 Happy National Principals Month, Principal Barnes! Thank you for leading with purpose, holding us to high standards, believing in our potential, and reminding us that every Dolphin deserves nothing less than our BEST! 💗

BATES ELEMENTARY HAS SOMETHING ELSE TO CELEBRATE! 🌊🏆

🎉👏🏽 This evening, we had the wonderful opportunity to celebrate some of our AMAZING Bates educators as they were formally recognized for being selected as 2026–2027 Junior League of Jackson (JLJ) Teacher Mini-Grant Recipients! 🐬💙💚

Please help us congratulate our very own:

🌟 Ms. Conley – School Counselor

🌟 Mrs. Lodge – Kindergarten Teacher

🌟 Mrs. Owens – Kindergarten Teacher

🌟 Ms. Satcher – Kindergarten Team

These phenomenal educators were joined by Principal Barnes at the Junior League of Jackson Mini-Grants Reception Ceremony, where their hard work, creativity, and commitment to providing meaningful opportunities for our scholars were celebrated! 🏆💐

At Bates, we believe that going above and beyond for our scholars means seeking opportunities, thinking outside the box, and finding ways to bring additional resources and experiences into our classrooms!

💙💚 A HUGE THANK YOU to the Junior League of Jackson for investing in our educators, supporting Jackson Public Schools, and helping turn innovative ideas into meaningful opportunities for our scholars!

👏🏽 Bates family, help us give these ladies a BIG round of applause! We are so proud of you for taking the initiative to go after opportunities that will directly benefit our Dolphins! 🐬

🏆🐬 BATES ELEMENTARY TAKES 1ST PLACE! 🐬🏆

We are SO excited to announce that Bates Elementary has been named the 1st place winner of the Mississippi Smiles Caring4Community School Contest, earning $2,500 for our scholars! 💙💚🎉

This win is extra special because 100% of the funds will go directly toward student incentives through our PBIS celebrations and PBIS store!

And we have a BIG surprise in the works… 👀✨

We are currently transforming one of our vacant classrooms into a SURPRISE PBIS Room designed especially for our scholars! Students who consistently exemplify positive behavior, make great choices, and meet our PBIS expectations each month will have the opportunity to enjoy everything this exciting new space has to offer. 🎮🎉🍿🏀✨

Our scholars work hard, and we believe in celebrating them for doing the right things—not only academically, but behaviorally as well. This $2,500 will help us make those celebrations even bigger and more memorable!

A HUGE thank you to Mississippi Smiles and to every parent, staff member, family member, friend, and community supporter who voted and shared. YOU helped Bates bring home the win! 🥇

💃🏽🎉 Hispanic Heritage Night at Bates was a beautiful celebration of culture, community, and pride! 🌎❤️

Our families, scholars, and staff came together for an amazing evening filled with music, food, traditions, learning, and fellowship as we honored the rich history, culture, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities.

A HUGE shoutout goes to our incredible Hispanic Heritage Night Committee for planning, organizing, and executing this entire event! 👏🏽👏🏽 From the smallest details to the final celebration, your hard work, creativity, teamwork, and dedication were evident throughout the night. Thank you for creating such a meaningful and memorable experience for our Bates families! 💙💚

We are also so grateful to every family, staff member, and community supporter who joined us and helped make the evening so special.

At Bates, we believe every culture deserves to be seen, celebrated, and valued — and our Hispanic Heritage Night was another beautiful reminder of the diversity that makes our school community so special. 🐬🌊✨

🎓✨ COLLEGE SPIRIT WEEK IS COMING TO BATES! ✨🎓

Next week, our Bates Dolphins will join our South Jackson Feeder Pattern family for College Spirit Week, September 28–October 2! 🐬💙💚

From our youngest scholars at Bates, Timberlawn, and Oak Forest, to Cardozo Middle School, and ultimately Forest Hill High School, we are connected by one journey toward one bright future! 🌟

College Spirit Week is about more than dressing up and having fun. It’s an opportunity to help our scholars dream BIG and begin thinking about the possibilities waiting for them beyond high school. Throughout the week, we’ll celebrate college, careers, goals, and the bright futures our scholars are already building. 🎓💼✨

And, of course, we’re showing our South Jackson pride! From Dolphins, Bulldogs, and Eagles ➡️ Lions ➡️ Patriots, we want every scholar to know:

💫 YOUR FUTURE STARTS HERE! 💫

Here’s how our Dolphins can participate:

🪖 MONDAY | CAMO DAY
“Hunt for Your Future!”
Wear camouflage as we set our sights on college and career goals!

🤓 TUESDAY | NERD DAY/BLACKOUT
“Brains, Bowties & Big Dreams!”
Wear black, nerd glasses, bowties, or suspenders. Being SMART is always in style! 📚

👯 WEDNESDAY | TWIN DAY
“College Roomies!”
Grab a friend and dress alike—two scholars, one college dream! 🎓

👔🌈 THURSDAY | TIE OR TIE-DYE DAY
“Tie Up Your College Plans!”
Wear a tie or tie-dye and show everyone that your future is BRIGHT! ✨

🎓 FRIDAY | REP YOUR COLLEGE
“College Pride Day!”
Rock your favorite college shirt, jersey, hat, or gear and represent your future college with pride!

🐬💙💚 Bates families, help us make this week BIG! Encourage your Dolphin to participate each day and use the opportunity to ask them a simple question: “What do YOU want to be when you grow up?” Their dreams can start right here at Bates!
