Kindergarten Academy was a huge success! 🎉

This past Wednesday through Friday, we had the pleasure of welcoming our incoming kindergarten scholars for a special preview of the school year. During Kindergarten Academy, our scholars had the opportunity to become familiar with school routines, learn important rules and expectations, meet new friends, and experience just a glimpse of all the fun and learning that awaits them this year!

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the families who brought their scholars to participate. Your support helps set the stage for a successful school year.

A special thank you also goes to our incredible staff for their hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm in making this event such a wonderful experience. We can't wait to welcome our kindergarten scholars back and kick off an amazing school year together!

Attention Obama Magnet Families!

Summer is the perfect time to keep our scholars reading and learning! As a reminder, all Jackson Public Schools students are required to participate in the Summer Reading Program by reading three books over the summer and completing a reading log or summary for each book. The required book is based on your child's rising grade level, and students should also read two additional books of their choice or from the recommended reading lists.

Required Summer Reading Books for Obama Magnet (Rising Grades):
Pre-K – The Pigeon Has to Go to School by Mo Willems
Kindergarten – Hank's Big Day: The Story of a Bug by Evan Kuhlman
1st Grade – I'm Sorry You Got Mad by Kyle Lukoff
2nd Grade – King & Kayla and the Case of the Lost Tooth by Dori Hillestad Butler
3rd Grade – The School Is Alive! by Jack Chabert
4th Grade – Before the Ever After by Jacqueline Woodson
5th Grade – Count Me In by Varsha Bajaj

Students may borrow books from the JPS District eBook Collection, school libraries, or their local public library.
