TCSD is pleased to announce James Howell, an educator with 24 years of experience at TCSD, has been named Assistant Superintendent of Education. James will transition from serving as the Wilson Elementary School principal into his new role over the course of the fall. Efforts are underway to hire his replacement as the Wilson Elementary School principal. During the transition, James and Superintendent Crisp will work closely with the WES team to ensure they have the support and leadership needed during the transition. James will work on site at WES until a new principal is hired. Once the position is filled, James will work with the new principal as they get to know the students, families and staff to provide a smooth transition.
In his new role James will be responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the educational components of the school district including working directly with all district principals and district leadership to implement the TCSD Strategic Plan. He will also focus on strengthening consistency across our K-12 educational system and ensuring that our priorities result in meaningful learning experiences for students.
In accepting the position, James stated, “I am honored to accept the position of Assistant Superintendent of Education at Teton County School District #1. After 15 years as a classroom teacher, I have had the privilege of serving students, families, and colleagues at all three levels of our district; high school, middle school, and elementary. These experiences have shaped my belief in the power of public education and strengthened my commitment to the students and community we serve. Public education is my passion, and I am excited to continue serving TCSD #1 in this new capacity. I look forward to supporting and celebrating the incredible educators across our district, building strong connections, and working collaboratively to foster growth and create meaningful opportunities for every student to experience success.”
Chairwoman Betsy Carlin expressed her appreciation to James, “James has served our district for many years with distinction, the Board and I agree that his experiences working across our district will provide the experience and expertise needed to support our administrators, teachers and other education staff to serve our students.”
Superintendent Scott Crisp commented, “Please join me in congratulating James on his new role. I appreciate the leadership James has provided at WES, CES, and JHMS during his tenure at each school and I am confident that his leadership will benefit students and educators throughout TCSD going forward.”
