Amador CASA Youth & Family Services
A Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) is a volunteer, mentor & role model who works with children

The Amador Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program is part of a national program that recruits and trains volunteers to become advocates for children who are in custody of the courts in Amador County. Advocates are a special kind of mentor and role model that helps the child navigate the complexities of the court. The CASA also helps the court find information about the child in order to make decisions in the child's best interest. Amador CASA is a program of Nexus Youth and Family Services.

Did you know that 79% of CASA volunteers
advocate for special education services or
additional educational support for the young
people they serve?

By speaking up for their educational needs,
CASA volunteers ensure youth have the
resources and support they need to thrive in
school and beyond.

When you’re really struggling, having one
trusted person to turn to can make all the
difference. For many kids and teens in foster
care, that person is their CASA volunteer.

This World Mental Health Day, we're shining a
light on the many ways CASA volunteers
meaningfully support the mental health of the
children they serve. They do this each day by:
Advocating for mental health services
Practicing trauma-informed care
Modeling a healthy relationship
Being a positive adult in their life
And so much more!

What is a DAF?

A DAF is a charitable giving account that allows
you to set aside funds for nonprofits you care
about. This DAF Day, consider supporting CASA
programs across California to ensure that
children and youth in foster care have an
advocate by their side.

On October 8, donors across the country are
coming together to put their Donor-Advised
Funds (DAFs) to work and support the causes
they care about.

Our culture teaches us the importance of
community, connection, and showing up for one
another.

As Hispanic Heritage Month continues into
October, we’re celebrating the Latino
communities across California who continue to
uplift and support children and youth.

Together, we can help every young person know
they have someone in their corner.

Sometimes all it takes is one person believing in
you to help you see a future that you never
thought was possible before.

For young people in foster care, having a CASA
volunteer in their corner can mean having
someone who listens, advocates, and helps
them believe in what comes next. Every young
person deserves that.

Being seen for who you are, not just for what
you’ve been through, can make all the
difference.
For youth in foster care, having a trusted adult
who takes the time to listen, understand, and
celebrate who they are can be incredibly
meaningful. A CASA volunteer creates a space
where a young person’s voice, personality,
dreams, and individuality can take center stage

When children cannot safely remain at home,
placing them with relatives or close family
friends helps preserve their sense of identity,
culture, and belonging.

Recent Child Trends data highlights the crucial
role kinship care plays in child welfare stability.
Across California, CASA advocates prioritize
family engagement so children remain
connected to the people who know and love
them most.
