SOMMA contributed to the Amador Sheriff’s Annual Toy Drive with $150 worth of toys and gifts! Some of our members were on hand at the “Fill the MRAP” toy drive event held today at Walmart. We are incredibly impressed by the generosity of our community. Thank you Amador County!

It’s unfortunate that we’ve lost so many Sheriff’s Office employees this year. Yet another good employee leaving for much better pay. Good luck Deputy Agness!

Good evening Amador!

Tomorrow afternoon we say goodbye to Deputy Curtis Agness. Deputy Agness was hired by the Sheriff's Office in May of 2020. Deputy Agness was hired prior to attending an academy and was sponsored through by the Amador County Sheriff's Office . Deputy Agness began working patrol in November 2020 after completing the academy. During his time here, Deputy Agness became an Operator on the SWAT team in addition to his patrol responsibilities. Deputy Agness is lateraling to another Northern California agency as a Police Officer where his starting pay will be 57% higher than his current rate of pay.

This marks the 3rd one of our members to leave this month, and the 2nd to leave this year that was sponsored through the academy.

Please join us in wishing Deputy Agness a safe and successful career with his new agency!

We would like to congratulate Sheriff Redman on receiving endorsements from all three law enforcement employee associations (DSA, SOA and SOMMA) within the Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Redman’s vision and unrivaled experience will continue to produce positive results for the Sheriff’s Office. It is clear that all of the associations value Sheriff Redman’s experience, leadership and integrity.

We believe that the true price of great leadership is the willingness to place the needs of others above your own. Great Leaders truly care about those they are privileged to lead and understand that the true cost of this leadership comes at the expense of self-interest. Sheriff Redman continues to lead by example, working tirelessly for all of the Sheriff’s Office employee associations.

We are honored to endorse Sheriff Redman and fully support his vision of “Proud to serve, Ready to protect.”

In SOLIDARITY, not politics.

We wanted to acknowledge the great work that our dispatchers do here daily at the Sheriff's Office. Each dispatcher at the Sheriff's Office is responsible for Call-taking, Emergency Medical Dispatching (EMD) and dispatching for law enforcement agencies in the county. Oftentimes, in other call centers, these three different roles are managed by three different employees. Our dispatchers also assist with record keeping!!! Even though the dispatch center is severely understaffed, the dispatchers work without complaint and do a great job. Thank you for your continued service.
