The Jackson Fire Department will kick off Fire Prevention Week with church inspections on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026. Immediately following inspections, the JFD will attend church together as a group.

The annual Fire Prevention Parade will be Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026 with lineup beginning at 2:30 pm. The parade will begin at 3:30 p.m. All floats will line up on the road behind Gilmore School and marching groups will assemble on Mayton Drive. All fire equipment will line up on Forest Avenue. As the parade begins, the two groups will merge at the intersection of College and Forest Avenues and proceed toward downtown Jackson. All units will disband in the I Spice parking lot past city hall. If you have any questions about the parade or to reserve a place, contact, Daron Bolen at 769-6052 or Keith Bolen at 769-1961.

As part of our annual fundraising drive, letters have been mailed to all residents and businesses as we have done for the past several years. Any donation monetarily or otherwise will be greatly appreciated. If you would like to donate drinks (water or sports drinks) they can be dropped off at the downtown fire station Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

As always, we proudly serve the citizens of Jackson.

Please keep Firefighter Jeremy Allday and his family in your prayers. His mother, Joyce Allday passed away August 15. Joyce always supported JFD and she will be missed tremendously.

The family will receive friends 8/18/26 at Lathan Funeral Home from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.

A celebration of Joyce's life will be held Wednesday at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church in Jackson.

May God bless and comfort the family now and in the coming days.

Your firefighters are busy this week!! The Confined Space Training Trailer sponsored by the Alabama Fire College is in town!! This Little Shop of Horrors challenges the senses, grit, and determination of all who dare to enter!! 😂 Different evolutions can be set up as the gates can be opened and closed as the instructor wishes. OH, it's pretty dark, too!! 😬 Special thanks to Chief Kevin Fuller of the Saraland Fire Department for being our instructor!!

Look at Mendy Odom Boldin!!

🌟 Local Health Hero Spotlight 🌟

Meet Mendy Boldin, RN, Firefighter, and RPM Instructor at Health Actions. She is a true example of what it means to serve and support community health in more ways than one.

Mendy encourages others to focus on balance: eating healthy about 80% of the time, staying active, and exercising at least three times a week, even if that just means going for a walk. Her passion for helping others stay healthy goes beyond the gym and the hospital; it’s something she’s carried with her since she was a teenager, when she first dreamed of becoming a firefighter.

To Mendy, community health means educating and encouraging others to stay active, knowing that movement supports not only physical health, but emotional and mental well-being too.

Her message to our community is simple but powerful:
💪 You’re never too old to be active, and you’re never too old to try something new. Get out of your comfort zone.

Thank you, Mendy, for inspiring healthier lives every day and making such a positive impact in our community! 💙🚒🏥
