Jackson is getting ready to celebrate music, culture, creativity, and community, and we need volunteers to help make it happen!

The National Folk Festival () is bringing an incredible lineup of musicians, artists, storytellers, craftspeople, food, and traditions to Jackson this November. As a volunteer, you'll get to be behind the scenes and right in the middle of the action, helping create an unforgettable experience for festivalgoers from Mississippi and beyond.

Meet Suzanne Rutherford, Executive Director of Volunteer Mississippi.

Originally from Meridian, Suzanne has been part of the Volunteer Mississippi team since 2007, with nearly 19 years of dedicated service to our state. For Suzanne, getting to spend time with and learn from Volunteer Mississippi's Board and staff is her favorite part of the job.

She believes that the strongest communities are built by people who are willing to care, serve, and invest in one another.

Thank you, Suzanne, for nearly two decades of leadership and heart!

Program Spotlight: The Mississippi Delta Nature Center is making a difference in Washington County through Rising Roots, one of Mississippi's AmeriCorps state programs.

This AmeriCorps program grows fresh produce for community members facing food insecurity, while teaching residents how to grow their own food, as well.

It's more than gardening; it's building a stronger, more food-secure Washington County. Visit volunteermississippi.org to find a local program like this near you and start volunteering today.

Mark your calendars! On October 24th, the Gold Coast Blues and Heritage Alliance is hosting a neighborhood cleanup along Old Fannin Road in Brandon, in a community once known as the Gold Coast.

Around 60 homes in the community need assistance after being ravaged by both time and economic changes. We have a month to rally volunteers, will you be one of them?
