The response to our naming contest was fabulous and we had a hard time narrowing down over 150 submissions! Sooo…Drum Roll Please:
We are officially welcoming Artemis to the ODBS Raptor Team with a name that honors the ancient Greek goddess of the hunt, wilderness, and wild animals. Congratulations to Ellen Schneiderman who will be treated to an ODBS zip pullover and Artemis's first sponsorship. Ellen was tied with Sam Watson, an ODBS volunteer who receives the same prizes. The runner up name is Skye, first submitted by Aggie L. and Aggie will also become an Artemis sponsor. Artemis came to ODBS from R.E.G.I in Antigo, WI where she was rehabbed from a car strike. She also appeared to help transition another Broadwing into a more comfortable captive setting. Her training is in progress and we hope to have her out at one of the upcoming Raptor Saturdays. She is a great addition to the team and we are excited to have her. Thanks to everyone who submitted names!
