The FBI is issuing a new alert to seniors about scammers who will try to trick them out of their hard earned money by sending couriers to come pick up the cash. The scammers claim to offer a business opportunity or a romantic relationship - eventually asking their new "partner" to invest in cryptocurrency. The "investing" may begin with wire transfers, but scammers will also try to convince their victims to get cash or gold bars to be retrieved by couriers. Once the courier is gone - so too is the victim's money.

Jacksonville Special Agent in Charge Jason Carley was proud to join our law enforcement partners at Jacksonville Sheriff's Office to announce the results of Operation Checkmate. Now, 29 people are facing criminal charges after they chatted online with who they thought were young teens for s*x. This includes 5 people who were in the country illegally.

This spring, the FBI published a Public Service Announcement warning the public of cyber threat actors increasingly using sophisticated, cyber-enabled tactics to impersonate legitimate businesses to remotely hijack freight, steal high-value shipments, and reroute deliveries, resulting in a surge of strategic cargo theft. In 2025, estimated cargo theft losses in the United States and Canada surged to nearly $725 million (a 60 percent increase from 2024), while confirmed cargo theft incidents increased by 18 percent.

The honors Special Agent Raymond J. Caffrey. in 1933, Caffrey was one of the victims of the "Kansas City Massacre". Caffrey was one of several law enforcement officers trying to return an escapee to Leavenworth prison, when they were ambushed and shot at by several men including "Pretty Boy" Floyd.
