🇺🇸⚓ HAPPY 251st BIRTHDAY, U.S. NAVY! ⚓🇺🇸

Today, October 13, 2026, we celebrate 251 years of honor, courage, and commitment to defending our nation! 🇺🇸⚓

October 13, 1775: The Continental Congress passed a resolution establishing the Continental Navy, marking the birth of the United States

April 30, 1798: Congress established the Department of the Navy, strengthening the nation’s naval leadership and organization.

For 251 years, the U.S. Navy has stood watch across the seas, protecting our freedom, defending our interests, and answering the call to serve wherever duty demands.

Today, we honor the generations of Sailors who have served with distinction and the families who stand behind them.

It was an honor to attend a beautiful Mass and funeral service this morning at Infant of Prague Catholic Church in Jacksonville, where we gathered to honor and remember an American hero and veteran.

I was truly blessed to have met Michael and to hear some of the incredible stories from his life and service.

Born and raised in the Bronx, NY, Michael proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for 30 years. His distinguished service took him to China and Korea, and he completed two tours in Vietnam before retiring at the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant. He was proudly known as a “China Marine.”

Today, we remember a remarkable man who dedicated three decades of his life to serving our country.

Rest in Peace, Master Gunnery Sergeant. Your service, sacrifice, and legacy will never be forgotten. 🇺🇸🙏✝️

It was a beautiful evening attending the POW/MIA Recognition Ceremony at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Camp Lejeune Memorial Gardens.

A heartfelt thank you to Rolling Thunder Chapter NC-5 for organizing such a meaningful event and for honoring those who served and sacrificed.

More than 80,000 American service members remain missing from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Cold War, and the Gulf Wars.

Missing, but never forgotten. 🇺🇸

Today marks the official establishment of the U.S. Air Force as an independent branch of the U.S. military.

📜 The Act: President Harry S. Truman signed the National Security Act of 1947, separating the air arm from the U.S. Army and creating an independent Air Force.

⭐ First Leader: W. Stuart Symington took the oath as the first Secretary of the Air Force on the same day.

🎖️ September 18, 1947 — A new chapter in American airpower began.

August Muster in Jacksonville at Unhinged Bar and Grill was, again, a great gathering of of our Military and Veteran community. They are eager to support each other and the happenings locally. Nice to see some new comers and hear some amazing stories.

Purple Heart Day is observed annually on August 7th to honor and remember the brave U.S. military service members who were wounded or killed in action. It commemorates the creation of the original "Badge of Military Merit" by General George Washington on August 7, 1782, making it the oldest military award still presented to U.S. service members.
