Today on Juneteenth, we come together to commemorate the end of slavery in the United States.

proudly gathered with our friends and partners in the 4th Judicial Circuit this morning to dedicate and honor the prominent American flag which so proudly waved over the front doors of the Courthouse for the past 13 years. During the ceremony, led by Clerk Philips and Chief Judge Lance M. Day, we were honored to have Congressman John Rutherford and Congressman Aaron Bean deliver stirring remarks to commemorate the special occasion. Joined by judicial colleagues, members of the Jacksonville City Council, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, and other special guests, it was a chance to celebrate how much unites us in our shared American Dream.

As we look forward to our country’s 250th birthday, let us always remember how blessed we are to call the United States of America our home.
