Traffic Alert

Due to a traffic crash, US 17 is closed to all southbound traffic at Evergreen Rd. North bound traffic is down to one lane. Please avoid the area if possible.

It's that time of year! Our Firefighters are out delivering your 2026 City calendars 😀 They started today in downtown Jacksonville and will be working their way through the rest of the City this week, so be on the lookout on your stoops.

We will be closing early today at 11 AM. We will be closed Thursday and Friday in observance of the Christmas holiday. We will reopen at 8 AM on Monday, December 29.

Update

While the investigation of the shooting near Onslow Drive and Dewitt Street continues, all indications is the shooting was self-inflicted. As with any loss of life, death investigations are very difficult for the victim's family. Therefore, out of respect for the family, we are not releasing the name of the victim. We ask that you keep the family in your thoughts and prayers as they mourn their loved one.

UPDATE - The roadway has been reopened.

Traffic Alert

Due to a traffic crash at the intersection of NC 24 and Western Blvd, the west bound lanes of NC 24 are currently closed. We will update when the roadway is reopened.

Our Officers are investigating an incident that occurred in the area of Onslow Drive and Dewitt Street. There is a deceased individual, but this appears to be an isolated incident and there is no current danger to the community.
