An important reminder from the parks: Protect your skin.

Whether you're exploring Pumpkin Hill Creek, paddling the marsh, or birding in the open sun, a layer of SPF is your best friend.

☀️ Apply sunscreen before hitting the trails
🧢 Wear a hat and UV-protective gear
💧 Stay hydrated

It’s simple self-care that lets you enjoy the outdoors longer.

Find a park to explore today (with sunscreen of course): https://www.timucuanparks.org/parks

Nature doesn’t come with an age limit.

Staying active is one of the best things you can do as you age — and the trails are calling! Whether you’re 65 or 85, Jacksonville’s parks offer ways to move your body and boost your spirit.

Try this:

🚶 Take a reflective walk at Fort Caroline National Memorial
🌳 Stroll the shaded trails at Theodore Roosevelt Area
🧘 Rest on a bench at Betz-Tiger Point Preserve

Spending time in nature supports heart health, balance, mental clarity, and joy at every stage of life.

Today, we remember the brave individuals who gave their lives in service to our country. Let us honor their sacrifice with silence, with gratitude, and with reflection.

Wherever you are — on a trail, by the water, or in your own backyard — we invite you to pause. To remember. To be still in their memory.

From all of us at Timucuan Parks Foundation, thank you to those who served, and those who carry the legacy of the fallen.

Today, we celebrate the slow and steady heroes of our ecosystems: Florida’s turtles. 🐢

From the burrowing gopher tortoises of Fort George Island to river sliders sunning on logs, these shelled wonders remind us to slow down and respect the land.

What you can do:

🐢 Never disturb a turtle or its nest
🚫 Don’t block gopher tortoise burrows
🌿 Keep trails and habitats litter-free

You don’t have to be a park ranger to protect Florida’s wild places.

Every month, Timucuan Parks Foundation volunteers roll up their sleeves and make a real difference — removing invasive plants, picking up litter, repairing trails, and planting for the future.
