We are happy you are here on the MCSW Page. Our mission is to serve you through Advocacy, Education, Wellness Resources, & Community Support. Our hope is to use this platform to keep you connected to important resources and services in the Jacksonville community. We look forward to meeting you at one of our public meetings this year, now that we are meeting back in-person. We encourage community engagement and we invite you to join the conversation pertaining to the advancement and empowerment of all women.

PURPOSE:

Within its authority, the Commission shall act to:

Develop a public consciousness of the talents of women, with special emphasis on the utilization of those talents as equal partners in the private, business, governmental and civic community;

Encourage women to become actively involved in matters pertaining to the government and community;

Work toward utilization of capable women in roles of leadership;

Act as a source of information for women including, but not limited to, employment opportunities, education, harassment, and discrimination against women; and

Focus attention on the needs of underserved women and/or women with special needs.

The Commission on the Status of Women would like to extend our appreciation to our Executive Director, Kelly Schmidt Sciba, who has left to explore other opportunities. We thank her for 20 years of service, dedication, and leadership to the Commission and we wish her all the best in her new adventure!
