Serra, our HS student, had the valuable opportunity to participate in the City Council’s Land Use and Zoning (LUZ) Committee through the Public Comment and Meeting Assistant Program.

By engaging directly with council members and local residents, she gained firsthand insight into how local government operates and how decisions about land use shape our community. This experience further strengthened her leadership, civic engagement, and service skills.

We are proud to see our Rockets taking initiative, getting involved, and making the most of opportunities to learn beyond the classroom! 🚀

🇪🇸📚 From Literature to Cultural Experience: La Siesta de Ricardo

In Mrs. Rivera’s Spanish 3 class at RCSA, students celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month by exploring the Spanish tradition of the siesta through El verano de Ricardo, a Spanish-language novel we are reading in class.

Inspired by Chapter 2, students participated in “La Siesta de Ricardo,” a cultural application activity that brought an element of the novel to life. The classroom was transformed into a cozy space where students could enjoy quiet music, relax in the reading corner, and complete a bilingual reflection journal connecting the reading, Spanish culture, and their own experiences at the end of the quarter. Optional coffee and hot chocolate added a cozy touch to the experience. ☕️🍫

This activity connected literature, cultural understanding, and personal reflection, demonstrating how language learning can extend beyond the textbook and into meaningful classroom experiences.

In Mrs. Rivera’s Spanish 3 class, learning Spanish means more than studying vocabulary and grammar—it also means exploring cultures, making connections, and bringing learning to life.

RCSA Night with the Jacksonville Icemen!

Get ready for an exciting night on the ice! River City Science Academy families, students, staff, and friends are invited to join us for RCSA Night with the Jacksonville Icemen on December 11 at 7:00 PM at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena.

This weekend the RCSA Speech & Debate team travelled to FCDI Northcentral @ Sante Fe HS. Competing in a tournament over 200 competitors and 20+ schools in a different region. Coaches Ms. Sloan & Mr. Plummer were present to cheer and support them as they competed.

2nd Place - Varsity HS Impromptu Speaking - Adelle A.
4th Place - MS Impromptu Speaking - Micah C.

Special congrats to Maddilyn C. Is one more tournament bid (placement) away from competing at FCDI State Championship in April with over 150K Scholarships given out in Ronald Reagan Debate!
