Letâs talk tags, Jacksonville.
Officer Tanner May with our Traffic Enforcement Unit has this reminder: we need to be able to see your license plate. If you have something on the back of your car that blocks your license plate, your tag needs to be attached to the outside of it.
Most attachments have a spot to attach your tag to it, so use it. If you donât, then you may get a ticket.
Drive safe, Duval.

These free events are your chance to hear about the state of safety in your neighborhood, learn more about how our agency is improving the ways we protect your family, meet the men and women who patrol your area, and ask questions.
Hereâs the schedule:
-District 5 (Baldwin, New Town, Northwest & Riverside): Monday, July 13
-District 3 (Mandarin & Southside): Tuesday, July 14
-District 4 (Avondale, Ortega & Westside): Thursday, July 16
-District 2 (Arlington & Intracoastal West): Monday, July 20
-District 6 (Northside, San Mateo & Oceanway): Tuesday, July 21
-District 1 (Brooklyn, Downtown, Eastside, San Marco & Springfield): Thursday, July 23
These Town Hall Meetings are open to everyone, regardless of which district you live or work in. You can check which Patrol District your home or business may be in using the âFind My Districtâ tool on our website.
We look forward to these events every year, as itâs our chance to connect directly with you and give you an in-depth look at how weâre making Jacksonville a safer place. Weâll see you there!
Today is Boater Skip Day and while everyone else is skipping work, our Marine Unit is on the job on the water keeping boaters safe.
Our officers, partnering with other local and state agencies, have been up and down our waterways to make sure everyone is celebrating safely and responsibly.
Whether you're spending the day cruising or anchored, having the proper safety equipment on board, staying alert, and a designated sober boater are necessities. Boating under the influence is a crime and can cost lives. Donât let a fun day on the water end with you in hot water.
Boat safe, Duval.
Buying or selling on Facebook Marketplace? Donât fall victim to a crime.
In the past nine weeks, weâve responded to 12 dirt bike thefts, all following a similar pattern. A buyer reaches out on Facebook Marketplace, offering to buy the bike. When the seller and buyer meet, the buyer asks to take a test drive and then drives off with the bike before actually paying.
We donât want anyone losing their property this way. Hereâs our advice:
-If the buyer asks to test drive the dirt bike without giving you money first, say no.
-Donât meet in a secluded location. Our six district substations and our Police Memorial Building downtown are always available for meetups. If they donât want to meet at our substations, thatâs a red flag. Check the comments for the addresses of these safe meetup spots to find the one closest to you.
-Take screenshots of your messages and take a photo of the person when you meet up. If something happens, you now have evidence you can bring directly to us.
This advice doesnât just apply to dirt bikes. Shop safely, and if something ever goes wrong during an online sale, weâre just a call away.
And if youâre stealing dirt bikes (or anything else) from people on Facebook Marketplace, we wonât let you get away with it.

30 fi****ms, 4 criminals, and illegal drugs are off the street thanks to a recent search warrant on Jacksonvilleâs Eastside.
Our Community Problem Response Unit (CPR) detectives had been investigating two houses in the Longbranch area for drug complaints. We received search warrants for the two houses, and on Wednesday, May 20, our CPR detectives and SWAT Team served those warrants.
Between the two houses, our detectives found 26 rifles and 4 handguns, totaling 30 fi****ms. We also found Methamphetamine, Xanax, and Ma*****na.
We made three felony arrests during our search warrants: 28-year-old Justice Johnson, 29-year-old Jaquan Wims, and 47-year-old Leamon Jackson. All three men have ties to gang activity. We also arrested 65-year-old Marcus Spencer.
Investigations like this make our community a safer place. These houses are just blocks away from an elementary school. These guns are now out of the hands of criminals and off our streets.
If you suspect dangerous activity in your community, report it by calling 904.630.0500.
Itâs body-worn camera video that reached millions of people across the world: District 2 and District 6 Patrol officers working together to save a young man ready to take his own life on the Dames Point Bridge. Weâre proud to report that the young man is doing well today.
In this episode of Inside JSO, weâre sitting down with three officers who played a pivotal role in saving the young manâs life: Officer Antonio Richardson, Officer Joseph Neighbor, and Officer Brandon Creighton. Our officers share their perspectives on the incident, their thoughts when the video went viral, and their messages to anyone else who is struggling.
You can watch the video version of this episode of Inside JSO on our YouTube page and find the audio version on your favorite podcast platform.
Itâs something we hear every single day. Scammers are spoofing our numbers, calling to demand money for missed jury duty or to get out of a warrant. Let us be clear: we are too busy doing our jobs to be calling to demand money from you.
If you ever get a call from someone claiming to be from the Jacksonville Sheriffâs Office and they ask you for money, we give you permission to hit the big red button on your phone and hang up!
Believer us, scam calls frustrate us too. Scammers are using our information to take advantage of you. Not cool.
Hereâs our advice: if you ever get a call from someone claiming to work for our agency, hang up, and give us a call (904.630.0500). If it really was someone from our agency looking to speak with you, weâll connect your call. If not, you can rest easy knowing you didnât fall for a scam.
Are you ready to join us in our fight to stop crime and make our community safer?
Weâve told you all about our Unsolved Crimes page, a public website where we share our B.O.L.O., or âbe on the lookoutâ, images in the hopes you can help us identify them. Since launching our Unsolved Crimes page three years ago, you have helped us identify more than 600 suspects.
Now, weâre expanding our website with the inclusion of our Wanted and Missing Persons pages. On our Wanted page, youâll find people with active warrants weâre looking for. On our Missing Persons page, youâll find information about some of our missing persons cases.
We launched the Missing Persons and Wanted pages in March, and we've already seen success. Since March, we recovered 17 missing people from the Missing Persons page and arrested 92 people from the Wanted page.
The best part? If you share information that leads us to finding someone on our Unsolved, Wanted, or Missing Persons pages, you could be eligible for a cash reward. Just call our partners at First Coast Crime Stoppers (1.866.845.TIPS) to report what you know anonymously.
