☀️ Happy June 1st! Summer is officially here! 💧

As temperatures start climbing, one of the most important things we can do for our health is stay hydrated. This is especially important for older adults, but it’s something everyone should keep in mind—especially here in Florida! ☀️

Did you know there are plenty of ways to increase your hydration besides simply drinking water? Fresh fruits are a great option and many contain a surprisingly high amount of water. Some of my favorites are:

🍉 Watermelon
🫐 Blueberries
🍓 Strawberries

Not only are they refreshing and delicious, but they’re packed with nutrients too!

If plain water isn’t your favorite, hydration packets can also help add flavor and electrolytes. Some popular options include:
💧 LMNT
💧 Liquid I.V. (the sugar-free varieties are a great choice)
💧 Waterboy

Whether you’re enjoying a beach day, gardening, walking the neighborhood, or simply relaxing outdoors, remember to keep a water bottle nearby and make hydration a priority this summer.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice is the reason we are able to gather, connect, and build community today.

Hi all! Thank you to everyone who attended our May monthly meeting. It was great getting together to discuss our bingo fundraiser, recap the success of the event, and introduce new committees to the group.

We’re excited to introduce committees as a way to grow SSEC and play to everyone’s strengths 💙

We are officially launching 3 committees:

✨ Outreach Committee
• Community partnerships
• Growing awareness

✨ Operations / Events Committee
• Event planning & logistics
• Day-of coordination

✨ Fundraising Committee
• Sponsorships & donations
• Creative fundraising ideas

These committees will allow more people to get involved in the areas they enjoy most while helping us streamline events, fundraising, and outreach as we continue to grow.

If you’re interested in being more involved, we’d love for you to sign up and be part of what we’re building together for seniors in our community.

SSEC is so grateful for the dedicated nurses who work tirelessly this week and every week to care for and advocate for our seniors. Your compassion, patience, and commitment do not go unnoticed. Often the least thanked individuals behind the scenes, you are truly the heart of healthcare and make such an important difference every single day.
