Our community garden is coming along beautifully!
This space is being created to bring the community together while also giving students the opportunity to learn hands-on gardening skills, teamwork, responsibility, and the importance of growing fresh food.
It’s amazing to watch something start from the ground up and slowly grow into something meaningful for everyone involved. This garden represents growth, unity, healing, and community connection.
We’re excited to continue building this space and can’t wait to see all the lives it impacts along the way.

The garden project is still in progress, and our culinary students are putting in the work!
So far, the students have been painting, laying down rocks, and planting seeds as we prepare the space for what will soon become a beautiful garden. The process has been a great learning experience for everyone.
This hands-on project is teaching our students patience, teamwork, and the importance of where our food comes from. We’re excited to watch everything grow in the coming weeks!

Learning Beyond the Kitchen!
Our Culinary students enjoyed a wonderful field trip!
We visited Sprouts Farmers Market to explore a different grocery environment and learn more about fresh ingredients, food presentation, and healthy food options available in the community.
Afterwards, we enjoyed breakfast together at KeKe’s Breakfast Cafe, where students were able to observe service and menu variety in a restaurant setting.
We are grateful to Eartha’s Farm & Market, which continues to be a special place for our students to learn about fresh, locally grown foods. Experiences like today help expand their knowledge of the many ways healthy food is provided throughout our community.

Our culinary students stepped outside of the kitchen and into the community!
We had the opportunity to visit the Jacksonville Urban League, where our students learned the rich history behind the organization and became educated on the many services they offer to support families and economic empowerment.
After the tour, our students utilized the computer lab to begin researching their future business names and creating their own business plans. Watching them think beyond the kitchen and step into entrepreneurship was powerful!
Thank you, Ms. Julia Henry, for welcoming us and investing in our students. Experiences like this help our students see what’s possible.
The future looks bright!

Yesterday was a special day at Clara White Mission.
Our CEO, Ju’Coby Pittman, stopped by to pour encouraging words into our students and remind them of their greatness.
Class 60 then surprised Chef Sharonda, Marenda Brown, and Tamika Wolfe-McKenzie with thoughtful Valentine’s gifts that truly touched our hearts.
Their kindness and love mean everything.
Class 60, you are amazing. Class 60 is the bomb! ❤️
