In the world of projections...not everything is quite as it seems. The typical classroom map we grew up seeing is actually quite decieving. As you move farther north and south from the equator on the map, the continents are streched and warped. This is the result of projecting a sphere onto a flat plane. In this video we can see the difference between the mercator projection of the world compared to the true relative size. Check it out!
