Our public events are our primary way of raising funds to care for our residents. 100% of proceeds to go our residents! Our other happy birthday today goes out to Baby the caracal! Baby turns 6 years old today. Baby came to us from a private individual and has lived at Catty Shack Ranch since March 2022. She lives in one of our new areas and enjoys plenty of shade under her banana trees.

Help us celebrate Baby’s birthday by symbolically adopting her. Or maybe buy a catnip ball or other fun treat off our wish lists. However you do it, let’s all wish Baby a happy birthday - and Rosa too, her birthday buddy!

Rosa celebrated her birthday with a frozen cake to enjoy. Rosa has called Catty Shack Ranch home since February 2022, and she is a favorite among visitors, volunteers, and staff. If you want to symbolically adopt Rosa in honor of her birthday, you can do it on our website at https://cattyshack.org/partner/adopt/.

Jade wanted to tell everyone our wish list items this week! Our wish list items of the week keep our animal areas safe and clean - Vet’s Best flea and tick spray and bleach!

Please consider ordering us some bleach for cleaning habitats, dishes, and so much more, and some flea and tick preventative that helps keep our animals safe in their habitats.

The first pumpkin of the season was donated…and destroyed! This past weekend we received the first pumpkin donation to hand out as an enrichment. The obvious choice was to give it to Amara, our most energetic at smashing pumpkins. She enjoyed the pumpkin and our visitors on Sunday enjoyed watching. Come out any day between 11am and 3pm, but on Sunday at 2pm you can watch us hand out treats and enrichments. We hope to see you there - and Amara hopes for more pumpkins.

Rocky, Monterey, and Colby are waiting to hear…the wishlist items of the week!

This week we are most in need of liquid bleach and ant killer. We use bleach constantly for cleaning dishes, food prep areas, and habitats. The recent rains have convinced ants to build up; this creates a huge problem where we walk and work, and can cause problems in habitats too.

We have wish lists for all kinds of things we need and use, so anything you buy for us is greatly appreciated. Bleach and ant killer are on the Walmart list but they don’t have an easy way to rearrange and put it first. Scroll through and maybe find something else you would like to provide. Let us know if you have any questions.

A day late with it, but happy 10th birthday to our tiger Haley! Haley came to Catty Shack Ranch in December 2017 after the facility she was at was damaged by Hurricane Irma. Haley celebrated her birthday with lots of relaxing, some pool time, and treats. Come say hello to Haley when you come to visit, or maybe adopt Haley in honor of her birthday.

Stuff happening every day! Your donations make these things possible. From new platforms next to Leo’s double decker pool to a new den box for Rocky and Haley, we are always improving, repairing, and building.

Volunteer if you can, maybe set up a corporate volunteer day, or donate something off one of our wish lists to help us take care of our resident animals.

Abby is one of our staff members and spends part of her day working with our animals on target training.

Training like this can be important to us and serve as an enrichment for the animal. The animal is engaged, learning, and receiving positive reinforcement for executing desired behaviors.

We are happy to have Abby on our team and adding another tool we can use to give all our residents the best possible care in this forever home.

We are just caretakers caring for animals that speak in other languages. But to be able to understand and put a team together that work together for a good outcome is what we thrive for.
Thanks to Dr Neihaus and his team dedicated to Helping us Help them🐾🐾 ! Dr Stuart putting everything together and laid out! Ultrasound photos to review, lab samples to send to the lab.
