Happy Father's Day from the Jacksonville Fire Department!

The qualities that make a great firefighter often make a great father figure as well- dependability, patience, strength, compassion, and putting others before yourself.

Today we celebrate not only the dads raising children, but also the mentors who invest their time, wisdom, and heart into others. Thank you for the encouragement you provide and the countless ways you help others grow.

To our firefighter dads who work long shifts and make sacrifices to support our mission, we thank you for your dedication. To those who have helped shape who we are today, your love and support are immeasurable.

Form our fire family to yours, we hope today offers an opportunity to celebrate, reflect, and honor the fathers and father figures who have shaped our lives, whether they are by our side, far away, or remembered in our hearts. ❤

Our friends at the NC Forest Service are showing an increased risk of wildfire today. Please avoid burning and be cautious of anything outdoors that could cause a fire.

Increased Risk of Wildfire Due to Elevated Fire Danger -- Thursday, June 18, 2026

The National Weather Service has issued fire danger statements for central and eastern North Carolina. What does increased fire danger mean for you today?

🎯 Fires can start from the smallest spark.
🎯 Dry conditions and wind increase fire spread.
🎯 Everyday activities carry more risk right now.

Avoid burning, and be cautious with anything that could cause a spark. Properly dispose of smoking materials such as ci******es. Be extremely careful with machinery and farm equipment when working outdoors.

Contact your N.C. Forest Service county ranger's office for guidance.

Structure Fire- Furniture Plus
Cause of Fire

On June 3, 2026, the Jacksonville Fire Department responded to a significant structure fire at Furniture Plus, located at 817 N. Marine Blvd.

The Jacksonville Fire Investigation Unit initiated an investigation into the origin and cause of the fire. With information from community members and a fire investigator from the North Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal, as well as a thorough examination and review of documentation, the cause of the fire was determined to be accidental and resulted from the improper disposal of smoking materials.

The Jacksonville Fire Department extends its gratitude to all responding agencies, volunteers, and citizens whose assistance and information helped reach this conclusion.
