Today was Go Pink Fridays at City of Jacksonville, and our officers and support staff were sporting their pink shirts and badges.

All money donated through the month of October for Go Pink Fridays across city departments goes toward supporting Julie's Pink Warrior Project, providing free mammogram screenings to uninsured and underinsured individuals in Onslow County.

As one city, we wear pink with a purpose. We recognize that barriers to healthcare can make accessing life saving screenings difficult. We support organizations like Julie's Pink Warrior Project who are making a difference right here in our community. 💪🎀

Congratulations to Telecommunicator Dineen Greene on her (second) retirement! Dineen began work with the Jacksonville 911 Center on March 4, 1987. After serving for nearly 30 years, Dineen retired in 2016, but learned the division was shorthanded. She decided to come back part time in January 2017, and today was her last day with the agency. She has been with the department for 39 years and 7 months, totaling 6,743 shifts!

Dineen has truly worked her way up through the ranks over the years. When she first came on board at the Center, she remembers hand writing call details on cards. She has experienced firsthand the transition to the computer aided dispatch system (CAD) and has entered 61,326 entries into the newest system.
She has answered all types of calls for service, totaling 216,000 calls!

Dineen has been a mentor to many telecommunicators over the years, helping to ensure continuity and smooth transitions.

She is our longest standing telecommunicator, and that is truly something to be proud of.

Dineen, we love you and we cannot thank you enough for the time and energy you have given to this agency over the years. You will be truly missed, and we hope you enjoy every bit of this second retirement. You absolutely deserve it!

Shooting Investigation

On Monday, October 12, 2026, Officers responded to 123-A Sanders St in reference to a shooting. When officers arrived, they located 21-year-old Jordan Joines in the front yard with a gunshot wound to his head. Joines was transported to Naval Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Initial investigation revealed the gun shot was an accidental self-inflicted injury while Joines was demonstrating to several individuals the mechanics of the fi***rm. There is no threat to the community. This continues to be an active and ongoing investigation.

Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards of up to $5,000 for information determined to be of value to law enforcement. Callers to Crime Stoppers are not required to reveal their identities. Welcome to the agency Officers Alyssa Blaskey, Cooper McKenna, and Zachariah Rogers!

Officer Rogers is from Phoenix, Arizona and spent 8 years serving in the Marine Corps. He has called Jacksonville home for the past 3 years where he worked on base in Criminal Investigations.

Officer McKenna is from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He also served in the military for 4 years as a police officer overseas.

Officer Blaskey is from Long Island, New York but has called Jacksonville home for the past couple years. She graduated Basic Law Enforcement Training last year at Coastal Carolina Community College.

We are excited to have these officers join our Patrol Division.

We are excited to announce that we have a permanent SRO at Parkwood Elementary. Officer Rouse joined the Pandas last week, and is settling in to his new role.

Officer Rouse is a Jacksonville native and a graduate of Southwest High. He has been with the Department since 2022 and has served in the Patrol Division.

SRO Rouse is looking forward to collaborating with students, staff, and parents, helping to mentor our future leaders.

Long post, but we are truly thankful.

Rain or shine, our community shows up! 💙

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate National Night Out with us! Despite the weather, we are extremely grateful for the opportunity to connect with our community, share some smiles, and spend time with some wonderful people.

This event wouldn't be possible without the help and planning from so many.

Thank you to all of our city departments. From the first planning meetings in April, you have been an integral part of ensuring we are able to provide the level of services required for this event to be successful.

Thank you to our vendors who showed up in the rain with smiling faces and resources/giveaways for our citizens. This includes all of the food trucks who prepared and served up delicious food.

Thank you to our volunteers at United Way for helping check in vendors and working the bike raffle.

Thank you to our military and first responder partners for bringing out your vehicles, your K9s, your equipment, and sharing your passion with others.

Thank you to One Place, Burlington, Kimbrell's, and Onslow County Schools for allowing us to use your parking lots so we could safely shuttle guests to and from the event.

And to our sponsors, thank you for your generous donations to make this night possible.

National Night Out is an important opportunity to celebrate the relationships that make our community stronger, and that commitment continues long after the event ends.
