🎉 Congratulations to JHS English teacher Aaron Jessey, our October 2026 Pillar of the Month!

Superintendent Dr. Kevin Whitaker and JHS Principal Allyson Smith surprised Aaron during class on Tuesday with the recognition. A key member of the JHS team for the last decade, Aaron was among the first district employees to receive nominations from students!

His impact shines through in the words of a former and current student:
💬 “He was a big support system for my high school career. He helped me understand classes he didn’t even teach during study halls. I’m not sure I would’ve graduated without him. He is the kindest and most genuine person I have met and he pushed me to graduate and I will be forever grateful for Mr. Jessey!”
— Katelyn Rhodes, JHS alumna

💬 “He was always kind and inclusive, he also taught very well and appealed to everyone's learning abilities. Overall a great person.”
— Ariana Hunt, JHS student

Join us in celebrating Aaron and the difference he makes for our students every day!

A lasting tribute to Johnny. 💙💛

Family, friends, and members of the Fletcher community gathered Oct. 30 to dedicate a chestnut oak and memorial stone in memory of Johnny LaMancuso, who passed away in April shortly after his 10th birthday following a battle with Ewing sarcoma.

Johnny loved collecting and cracking acorns with his grandfather. Now, a tree near the playground at M.J. Fletcher Elementary School will grow in his memory, offering shade for generations of children at the school he loved. His siblings and close friends helped plant the tree before others joined in.
