Preparedness in Action!

Today, Central Valley Health District staff participated in a Family Assistance Center (FAC) preparation training alongside our local and state partners.

A Family Assistance Center is a designated location where individuals and families impacted by a major emergency or disaster can access important resources, information, and support. These centers help connect affected individuals with services and provide a centralized place to receive assistance during an incredibly difficult time.

So, why practice before an event happens? Training together allows our partners to clarify roles, strengthen communication, coordinate resources, and identify areas for improvement before a real emergency occurs. When a crisis happens, being prepared helps us respond more effectively and ensure individuals and families receive the support they need.

A special shout out to Frank Balak, CVHD’s Emergency Preparedness and Response Coordinator, for helping host today’s training and bringing partners together to strengthen our community’s emergency preparedness efforts!
