Apply now for NRCS programs: EQIP, CSP, and ACEP.

Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP): EQIP provides producers with the technical and financial resources they need to address resources concerns on their land including improved water and air quality, increased soil health, reduced soil erosion, improved natural vitality and more.
Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP): CSP helps producers build on existing conservation efforts while strengthening their operation.
Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP): The Agricultural Land Easement component of ACEP enables producers to protect their agricultural land from development by enrolling it in a permanent Agricultural Land Easement. The Wetland Reserve Easement component of ACEP helps landowners protect, restore and enhance wetlands which have been previously degraded due to agricultural uses.
NRCS accepts applications throughout the year; however, North Dakota producers should submit theirs by September 18, 2026, to be considered for FY2027 funding.

JULY BLOOMS

A pollinator garden is a habitat designed to support bees, butterflies, birds, bats, and other pollinators by providing native plants, continuous blooms, and safe foraging spaces.

Why Pollinator Gardens Matter
Pollinators are essential for ecosystems and food production, contributing to one out of every three bites of food we eat. However, their populations are declining due to habitat loss, pesticide use, and environmental changes. Creating a pollinator-friendly garden helps sustain local pollinators, supports biodiversity, and strengthens the pollinator-plant relationship that has evolved over time (U.S. National Park Service).

Key Principles for Design
Plant Native Species: Native plants provide high-value nectar and pollen and are adapted to local climate, soil, and growing seasons. They are more likely to attract local pollinators and require less maintenance (USDA).
Continuous Blooming: Plan your garden so flowers bloom from spring through fall, ensuring a year-round food source for pollinators (USDA).
Cluster Planting: Group the same species together to make foraging more efficient for pollinators, reducing the distance they travel between flowers (USDA).
Diverse Habitats: Include a mix of flower shapes, heights, and colors to attract a variety of pollinators. Consider flat flowers for short-tongued insects and tubular flowers for long-tongued bees (The Old Farmer's Almanac).
Sun and Soil Considerations: Most pollinators prefer sunny areas. Assess your soil type—well-draining, sandy, or clay—and choose plants suited to those condition
