It's time for your Week 5 Fall Foliage Report! 🍁🍂

The continued pattern of warm days followed by cold nights and frosty mornings is continuing to transform southern Pennsylvania’s forests into a mosaic of fall color. With minimal winds helping to extend the peak in many counties, fantastic autumn shades are now visible from the middle and southern Appalachians to the southern Alleghenies and deep into the forests of southeastern PA.

As fall foliage season winds down, this weekend may be the last great opportunity to soak in the wonderful colors across a large portion of Penn’s Woods.

It's time for your Week 4 Fall Foliage Report! 🍁🍂

Recent cold nights have sparked dramatic color changes across Pennsylvania’s forests, and now vibrant hues are bursting statewide. From the Poconos to the Allegheny Plateau, across the full sweep of the Appalachians and into the southeastern corners of the state, the autumn cheer of Penn’s Woods is on full display.

It’s shaping up to be one of the most impressive fall foliage seasons in a few years, making right now the perfect time to get outside and enjoy Pennsylvania’s breathtaking autumn scenery!

It was an absolute honor to host this event! The stories, comradery, speakers, and lessons during this weekend were a blast. A huge thank you goes out to Pymatuning Lake Association and Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing - Pittsburgh, PA and all of the volunteers for planning and facilitating such a fantastic event. I am looking forward to doing this again next year!

Spooky season is starting early at Pymatuning - only 2 weeks until Spooktackular starts! Spooktackular will be hosted on Friday, 9/25, and Saturday, 9/26, as well as Friday, 10/2, and Saturday, 10/3. This event is open to the public, but parking is limited to the area near the contact station. We hope to see you there!

Mark your calendars for the 2026 Waterfowl Expo! Get ready for a day full of outdoor activities, vendors, and celebration of Pennsylvania’s incredible waterfowl.

Join us on Saturday, September 12 from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. at Pymatuning Sportsmen's Club (3642 West Erie Street Ext., Linesville, PA).

The Pennsylvania Waterfowl Management Stamp Contest will also take place during the event. The public can view this year’s artwork beginning at 10:00 a.m., with judging kicking off at 11:00 a.m.

The winning artwork will become a Pennsylvania Duck Stamp and a limited-edition fine art print, with proceeds supporting the state’s waterfowl management program.

Whether you’re a longtime waterfowl enthusiast or just looking for family-friendly fun, we'll see you there!

Bring your dog for a one mile walk on Sugar Run Trail to celebrate your furry BFF. Learn about local wildlife related to dogs, glean information about Leave No Trace Principles for dogs and find out about ticks in the area. You do not need to have a dog in order to participate.

Scarlet beebalm, Monarda didyma, growing along the banks of Sugar Run. This plant is in the mint family and can grow between 2 to 4 feet tall. It is very attractive to pollinators, especially hummingbirds and various species of butterflies.

‼️Swimming Prohibited: Routine water testing has returned an elevated coliform count, and swimming is prohibited at Tuttle Beach at Pymatuning State Park. The day use area remains open. The park will test the water daily and re-open swimming when bacteria counts fall into acceptable levels. We apologize for the inconvenience.
