Another tragic event avoided by Sonora CHP Officer Kannon Gibson. A small fire broke out near a housing complex on Chabroullian Road near State Route 49. Officer Gibson used the fire extinguisher from of his patrol vehicle to extinguish the fire before it could spread to the structure. Great Job Officer Gibson. As a reminder, the weather may be cooling off, but the fire danger is still high.

While on patrol, Sonora Area CHP officers Eli Dillon and Ryan Johnson were advised of a nearby fire which had started off Gunsight Road in Columbia. They immediately responded and located the fire. Due to their quick action, they were able to contain the fire from spreading utilizing a fire extinguisher and shovel until fire personnel arrived on scene. The actions of these officers definitely prevented a far more serious situation. Great job!

Last week, the Sonora Area CHP Commander Randy Matyshock was joined by two former Sonora Area Commanders. CHP Central Division Assistant Chief Shane Ferriera, ID 14803, and retired CHP Lieutenant Scott Clamp, ID 12345, (yes that is his correct ID) both came to visit their former command. They talked about old memories as well as all the changes that have been made since they left. It is always nice to welcome back former Sonora Area CHP personnel.
