Williamson County ESD 5 provides fire, rescue, and emergency medical service to 75 square miles of north Williamson County, Texas which includes the City of Jarrell, the Sonterra Community, Live Oak, Green Acres and Corn Hill communities as well as thousands of acres of farmland, quarries, and industrial business'. The district also covers a 13 mile strech of the IH-35 corridor. The district is covered out of 2 stations staffed 24/7 with 18 career fire fighters and 6 admin staff including Fire Marshall services. The district is funded by property tax and 2% sales tax in areas outside the city limits of the city of Jarrell Texas. These funds are used to pay employees, make building payments, provide necessary insurance including workers compensation, pay utilities, provide training, repair and fuel vehicles, and provide proper protective gear and firefighting tools. The District endeavors to be frugal, creative and prudent with taxpayer money. With the growth that is occurring in the area comes a growth in call volume which is projected to increase more as population density increases. The District is governed by a 5 member board of commissioners that meet monthly to ensure proper fiscal oversight of the taxpayer money. We the employees of Jarrell Fire Department/ ESD 5 are proud to be your public servants that are willing to give our very best to those that call for assistance. We are thankful for the support of the residents and business owners in our district.

Thankfully, we are finally getting some relief from the heat and experiencing our first cold weather of the season!

Many of our residents may begin using their heaters and when the heater part of your HVAC sits unused for several months the dust builds up on the heating elements.

When those elements heat up for the first time in months, it burns off the excess dust and can send out a burning smell for a few minutes that should quickly go away.

This is normal and expected on the first use of the season.

If the smell doesn’t disappear in a minute or two, it could potentially be a sign of another problem.

As always Jarrell Fire is here to help keep your, your family and your property safe.
If you have any concern that it is more than a little dust, it’s always best to call and let us come check things out for you.

Also, it is a very good practice to have your HVAC routinely checked, maintained and serviced at routine intervals.
The start of the winter weather season is the perfect time to get that done.

Welcome cooler weather! We have been impatiently waiting for you! Well, I have anyway.

Stay Safe Everyone!

Let’s take a poll…

👍🏼 = Ready for some cooler weather!

😎 = Please don’t leave summer!

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Buckholts VFD who lost one of their firefighters yesterday while fighting a grass fire.

Jarrell Fire & Rescue Division Chief Matt Whisenant, a member of the State of Texas Firefighter Line of Duty Death Task Force, is assisting the family with preparations.

May God bless them and provide peace through their difficult time.

Waco KWTX reports as follows:

A Buckholts volunteer firefighter has died following a single-vehicle rollover crash, according to a statement by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Firefighter Rick Joseph Fuentes, 26 was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Greg Hoelscher.

According to a DPS investigation, the Buckholts Volunteer Fire Department truck was responding to a vehicle and grass fire in the 13000 block of Wood Road in Holland.

Fuentes, 26, of Cameron, was driving the fire truck when it left the roadway near the 7300 block of Farm to Market Road 437 and rolled over, the statement said.

The crash remains under investigation and the scene is currently active. His next of kin has been notified.

Today family and friends gathered to celebrate the life of our brother Jake on this 3rd anniversary since he met Jesus in person.

It was truly a celebration as we got to meet for the first time, Jake’s nephew Beau Jacob Grimm who joined the family in June.

We miss Jake everyday but it just doesn’t seem all of the time like he is gone because we just talk about him so often. It’s like we just expect him to arrive for his shift.

We are grateful for days like today when we revisit together all that Jake was to each of us.

While this was a private event today, we do invite you to share in the morning with us through the photos below.
