The final date for agricultural producers to apply for or make changes to their existing crop insurance coverage is quickly approaching for winter planted crops, perennials, shellfish and Pasture, Rangeland, Forage (PRF). Need an excuse to not do yard work? We've got you. Leaving the leaves and saving the stems in your yard is the best thing you can do to support pollinators and other wildlife in your yard as we approach winter.

If you must do some tidying of those leggy perennials, consider trimming them high (18-24 inches) to allow stem-dwelling insects a shot at overwintering.

Waterfowl hunters, mark your calendars!

Applications for TWRA’s 2026 Mid-Season (Tier 2) WMA Waterfowl Quota Hunts open October 21 and close November 10.

Applications can be submitted through gooutdoorstennessee.com, the TWRA mobile app, TWRA regional offices, or any TWRA license agent. Applicants must be at least 16 years old, and mailed applications will not be accepted.

Each application can include up to 48 unique hunt choices, and qualifying parties must have 4–8 members.

After more than 20 years of dedicated service, Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation Comptroller Mary White has announced she will retire at the end of the year. We will miss her leadership, but we wish her all the best in a much-deserved retirement.
