Wolfner Talking Book and Braille Library presents, Ghost Stories of an Antiquary
Throughout 2026, Wolfner volunteers and staff have been working on more enhanced audio productions.
The first one to be released this year is Ghost Stories of an Antiquary by M. R. James (DBC33014). Staff and volunteers have put their talents together to produce another remarkable recording. Sound effects and music have been added to this collaborative audio production.
Ghost Stories of an Antiquary is a 1904 classic that collects the earliest ghost stories of author M.R. James. While not gruesome by any means, these classic tales of apparitions and other supernatural horrors remain chilling to this day. Ghost Stories of an Antiquary (DBC33014) is now available for download from BARD (Braille and Audio Reading Download) offered by the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled, Library of Congress, or call a Wolfner Library reader advisor at 800-392-2614 or 573-751-8720 to have the title included on your next cartridge.

October 15 — All the Colors of the Dark by Christopher Whitaker (DB122210)
1975 is a time of change in America. The Vietnam War is ending. Muhammad Ali is fighting Joe Frazier. And in the small town of M***a Clare, Missouri, girls are disappearing. When the daughter of a wealthy family is targeted, the most unlikely hero emerges—Patch, a local boy, who saves the girl, and, in doing so, leaves heartache in his wake. Patch and those who love him soon discover that the line between triumph and tragedy has never been finer. And that their search for answers will lead them to truths that could mean losing one another. [14 hours, 39 minutes]

November 5 — Crota by Owl Goingback (DB033245)
When an enormous bear-like monster begins attacking men, including sheriff Skip Harding, Little Hawk identifies him as Crota, an ancient evil creature. The advice of Strong Eagle, a wise medicine man, and Skip's acceptance of his Native American heritage enable Skip and Little Hawk to confront Crota. [8 hours, 15 minutes]

November 19 — 11/22/1963 by Stephen King (DB073931)
The dying owner of Al's Diner has a shocking request for his friend, English teacher Jake Epping: go back in time through a portal in Al's storeroom and stop JFK's assassination. [30 hours, 59 minutes]

September is National Service Dog month. Service dogs play an important role in the lives of individuals with disabilities. Service dogs provide companionship, boost confidence, and assist their handlers with living a fuller life. Service dogs require intensive training before they are placed with individuals. Mandy travels with her service dog Boz. They serve on the Wolfner Advisory Council.
