🩹 Sharps Disposal

Needles, lancets, and other sharps should never be thrown loosely in the trash or recycling. Help protect sanitation workers, family members, and your community by placing used sharps in a sturdy, puncture-resistant container with a secure lid and when they are 3/4 of the way full dispose of them in the normal household trash or through an approved sharps disposal program. DO NOT RECYLCE SHARPS! Never throw loose sharps in the trash or a toilet.

Safe disposal starts with you. đź’™ Contact your local health department or waste management provider to learn about disposal options in your area.

🏡 Cole County Has a Code Enforcement Program!

The Cole County Environmental Protection and Safety Code helps protect public health by addressing environmental health hazards and nuisances in unincorporated areas of Cole County.

The program emphasizes education and voluntary compliance to help property owners maintain safe, healthy properties and reduce conditions that can contribute to disease, pests, and other public health concerns. Simple actions like properly maintaining your property, preventing standing water, storing waste appropriately, and reducing pest harborage can make a big difference for the health of our community.
