Jefferson Fire/Ems kept busy over the holiday weekend as we were dispatched to another motor vehicle crash again on Bailey road route 116. A single vehicle that left the roadway and struck several rocks/boulders and into a ditched area. The sole occupant was alert and talking to rescue personnel complaining of back pain and was covered in glass. Once again seatbelts and airbags kept this driver from extensive injuries. We were familiar with the operator and she is a super sweet lady and we wish her a speedy recovery.

Responding:
Utility 1
Rescue 1

Assisted by:
NH State Police
Lancaster Ambulance
Lufkin Towing.

Pretty impressive with all the traffic in Jefferson Tonight. Lots of folks on the sides of the road on Presidential Highway and Meadows Road looking for those shinning beams of light atop of Mt Wash in remembrance of 911. So great to see so many out to honor those affected on a day that was simply pure evil. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🚒🚔🚑
Still a lot of cloud cover over the mountain. Hope it breaks off.

Jefferson Fire was dispatched to a first alarm structure fire Tuesday morning Aug 25 around 3:38am. We responded with Engine 2 with an interior crew and Tanker 1 with 3000 gallons of additional water to a residence on Faraway Road in the Town of Dalton. On arrival the building was fully involved which brought an outside/defensive attack to quell the flames. During fire operations the home owner decided to sn**ch a piece of fire apparatus ramming his own vehicle as well as other fire, apparatus and other personal firefighter vehicles before making his way down faraway road and landing at a residence in Dalton. The subject was then taken into custody.

Such a dangerous situation where a firefighter was almost pinned in between two vehicles as he sped away.
Luckily no injuries occurred during this tragic event and fire operations remained intact. Unfortunately, two pieces of apparatus are probably out of service from the substantial damage.

We stand proud to assist our mutual aid partners and community. We are thankful our brother’s and sister’s were not injured in either fire operations or this unfortunate incident. All Jefferson units were clear and back in the station shortly after 8 AM.

"A beacon of remembrance, shining bright from the highest peak in the Northeast."

From September 9th through September 12th, 2026, Mount Washington will be illuminated against the autumn night sky for The Honor Summit. This striking tribute serves as a towering reminder of the lives lost on September 11th, and a beacon of profound gratitude for the first responders, military members, and veterans who protect our communities every single day.

Hello and I hope everybody has been enjoying the great weekend weather. On that note most realize of the storm cell/micro/tornado/ we had Thursday night that was very powerful and caused significant damage in the Lancaster/Guildhall area and affected other towns like Jefferson and Lunenburg as well.

Heading into the new work week we need to stay vigilant as they have posted another high risk day on Tuesday, July 14 starting in the afternoon through the evening hours. Areas to include NorthEastern New York/Maine/NH/Vermont. High temps in the 90’s. I’ve seen several alerts now with strong gusty winds in the 70mph category with hail and a level two alert for tornado probability. This is not to scare anybody. It is just a keep an eye on the sky as these cells have been very violent and move through very quickly. Remember to stay away from downed wires and call 911. No line is ever safe to touch.

Your local services of fire/police/ems get these alerts by the hour as bad weather approaches the area. We will be ready to respond in case of an emergency. Let’s hope it decides to take a vacation this time around. 🚒🚔🚑

Never allow children to handle, play with, or light any type of fireworks. Supervision is crucial to prevent accidents, as even sparklers can cause significant injury, burning at temperatures over 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit.

Use sparklers in open, outdoor spaces away from buildings, trees, dry grass, and other flammable materials. Light them one at a time and have water available nearby.
