The Jefferson Police Department is honored to be part of tonight’s 13th Annual Back the Badge Reception, hosted by Faith Tabernacle in recognition of Marion County’s first responders.

Our officers extend our heartfelt appreciation to Pastor Kerry Green, the Faith Tabernacle congregation, and every volunteer and contributor who made this evening possible. For 13 years, this continued tradition has brought our community together to recognize those who serve and the families who stand beside them.

Your hospitality, prayers, and encouragement mean more than words can express. In a profession that carries difficult days and tremendous responsibility, your support reminds our officers that they are appreciated and supported by the community they serve.

Thank you, Faith Tabernacle, for continuing this meaningful tradition and for making our first responders and their families feel so welcome. We are grateful to serve Jefferson and proud to stand alongside our fellow law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, and first responders throughout Marion County.

The Jefferson Police Department welcomes everyone enjoying the East Texas Burn Run! As you spend time in town, help us keep the weekend safe for riders, residents, and visitors.

LOOK TWICE. SAVE A LIFE. Motorcycles can be easy to overlook. Check your mirrors and blind spots, look carefully before turning or entering an intersection, and give riders plenty of room.

• Put distractions away and stay alert behind the wheel.
• Slow down around crowds, intersections, and event areas.
• Give motorcycles a full lane and extra following distance.
• Riders: wear a helmet and protective gear, make yourself visible, and ride at a safe speed.
• Watch for pedestrians, follow posted closures, and keep emergency access clear.
• Never drive or ride impaired. Plan a sober ride before the fun begins.

Enjoy the motorcycles, music, and fellowship—and help everyone make it home safely.

Be safe, have fun, and thank you for visiting Jefferson!

Today, the Jefferson Police Department, in partnership with the Jefferson VFW Post, Jefferson AARP Chapter, and the Criminal Investigator for the District Attorney’s Office serving Marion County, assisted with fingerprinting Head Start and kindergarten students at Jefferson ISD.

Each child’s fingerprints were included in a take-home pamphlet designed to help parents and guardians collect important information about their child. This record can assist in identifying or locating a child should an emergency ever arise.

No participating organization retained copies of the fingerprints. The pamphlets were sent home for parents and guardians to complete and keep in a safe place.

We’re proud to contribute to this effort and grateful to all our partners for helping families take this proactive step toward keeping their children safe.
