🚨 SCAM ALERT — PLEASE SHARE! 🚨

We want to warn families about a scam targeting people with loved ones in jail.

Scammers are checking updated inmate rosters and public records to find out who is currently incarcerated and who their family members are. They then call or message the family and claim:

📞 “Your loved one can be released on bond, but you need to pay $____ first.”

They may pretend to be connected to the jail, court, judge, or law enforcement and provide instructions on where or how to send the money.

🚨 THIS IS A SCAM. DO NOT SEND MONEY!

If you receive a call like this, hang up and contact the jail or court directly using an official phone number.

Maybe this cool weather is getting to our heads… because we’re feeling a little sentimental this morning. 😂🍂

But seriously, we want to say THANK YOU, JENA. 💙

We know part of our job is pointing out when things are being done wrong, enforcing the law, and having conversations nobody really wants to have. But at the heart of it all, we’re grateful for the privilege of serving this community.

JPD is proud to be part of Jena. Not just as your police department, but as your neighbors, friends, and fellow members of this community. We’re thankful for the trust you place in us, the support you show us, and the opportunity to work alongside you to keep our community safe and strong.

Thank you for trusting us to protect and serve Jena. We don’t take that privilege lightly. 🚔💙

Have a safe and blessed Monday, Jena!

We’ve had a few questions lately about golf carts and four-wheelers, so here’s the short version:

🛺 BATTERY-OPERATED GOLF CART?
If you’re using it on the roadway, make sure you’ve got it registered through the Jena Police Department.

🏍️ GAS-POWERED FOUR-WHEELER / ATV?
That’s a different story. Just because it has four wheels doesn’t make it a golf cart. 😅

Gas-powered ATVs and four-wheelers cannot be operated on our roadways.

We’re not trying to ruin anybody’s afternoon, stop anybody’s fun, or keep you from enjoying your four-wheeler. We’re just trying to keep everybody on the right side of the rules—and preferably not on the side of the road talking to us. 😂

So before you crank it up and head down the road:

Golf cart → Get it registered. 🛺✅
Four-wheeler → Keep it off the roadway. 🚫

Questions? Give us a call. We’ll be happy to help.

📞 Jena Police Department — 318-992-5111

📌 EDITED TO ADD: Golf carts that are properly registered may be operated on designated city streets only. They are NOT permitted on state highways. Please keep that in mind when planning your route!

Today is National Voter Registration Day!

We’ve got a simple rule around here:

If you don’t vote, you can’t gripe! 😂

Well… let’s be honest, you can gripe. We know folks are gonna do that anyway. 🤣 But if you want your voice to count, you’ve got to show up and use it!

On a serious note, take a few minutes today to make sure you’re registered to vote and that your information is up to date. Your vote is your opportunity to have a say in the people and decisions that affect your community.

🇺🇸 Register. Be informed. Vote. THEN gripe.

On Friday, September 11th, students from Fellowship Elementary took time to remember 9/11 and show their appreciation for our first responders.

The students brought our officers some sweet treats along with hand-drawn thank-you cards reminding us why we do what we do. 🥹❤️

Those little drawings and heartfelt words may seem simple, but they mean so much to the men and women who serve our community.

We are incredibly thankful for the students, teachers, and staff at Fellowship Elementary for taking the time to honor the sacrifices made on September 11th and for showing appreciation to those who continue to serve today.

🇺🇸 Never Forget.
❤️ Thank you, Fellowship Elementary!

From today through Saturday, Highway 84 is about to become the Super Bowl of garage sales. 😂

There will be folks walking, folks stopping, folks turning, folks pulling over, and folks slamming on the brakes because they just spotted the exact thing they’ve been looking for since 1997. 🤣

So while you’re out hunting for those “I don’t need it, but it’s only $3” treasures, please remember:

🚶‍♀️ Watch for pedestrians!
🚗 Watch for vehicles slowing down!
↩️ Expect random turns!
🐢 Slow down and give everyone some room!

We responded to an incident at Jena High School this morning involving a fi***rm.

Our officers recovered the fi***rm and made an arrest in connection with the incident.

We want to reassure our community that there is NO ongoing threat to the school, and our children are safe. The situation was handled quickly, and our officers worked alongside school administration and LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office to ensure the safety of everyone on campus.

We appreciate the quick actions of the school staff and the cooperation of everyone involved.

Our kids are safe. The fi***rm is secured. An arrest has been made.

We will provide additional information when it is appropriate to do so.

🚨 WARRANT WEDNESDAY — ROUND 2 🚨

We’ve got another list of outstanding warrants from Jena Municipal Court, and we’re putting the names out there so everyone has the opportunity to check the list and take care of any outstanding business.

If you see your name, don’t shoot the messenger! We’re simply passing along the information and giving you a chance to get things squared away.🫰🏻

And if you recognize a name on the list, we already know what’s about to happen:

📱 “Girl… you might wanna check Facebook.”

⚖️ Reminder: An outstanding warrant is not necessarily a conviction. Everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. This list is being provided to notify individuals of outstanding warrants through Jena Municipal Court.

If your name appears, contact the Jena Police Department at 318-992-5111 for information about your options.
