🚒 Have you ever thought about joining the fire department? 🚒

The Jerome Fire Department is a combination fire department, made up of career and volunteer personnel working together to serve our community.

Being part of JFD is about more than responding to emergencies. Members train together, maintain equipment, support community events, learn valuable skills, and help their neighbors when they need it most.

🔥 Firewise Tip: Start at Home 🔥

Living in our beautiful mountain community comes with unique wildfire challenges. While we can't eliminate wildfire risk, we can all do our part and take steps to make our homes and neighborhoods more resilient.

Take a walk around your property and look for potential hazards:

🌿 Remove dead vegetation and accumulated debris.
🏠 Keep areas immediately around your home clear of combustible materials.
🌲 Trim vegetation away from structures where appropriate.
🚪 Make sure access routes and driveways remain clear for emergency vehicles.
💧 Know where your water shutoffs and other utilities are located.

Wildfire preparedness isn't something to think about after a fire starts. The best time to prepare is now.

We'll be talking more about Firewise preparedness at our Community Firewise Picnic on September 24!

September 11, 2001 — We Remember.

Today, we take a moment to reflect on the lives lost and the sacrifices made on that fateful day. We remember the 343 brave firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice while responding to the attacks of September 11, 2001.

Their selfless acts of courage and bravery in the face of unimaginable danger will never be forgotten.
We remember the police officers, EMS personnel, military members, and civilians who lost their lives that day, and the countless others who were injured or affected by the tragedy.

And we remember the families, coworkers, and communities who continue to carry their loss, even 20 years later.

For the fire service, September 11 is a poignant reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and commitment to service that define our profession. It's a day to honor the fallen, to recognize the heroes, and to reaffirm our dedication to protecting and serving our communities.
We will never forget the lessons learned, the lives lost, and the sacrifices made on that day. We will continue to stand strong, united, and proud, inspired by the bravery and resilience of those who came before us.

🚨 **A Friendly Reminder from the Jerome Fire Department** 🚨

When every second counts, **please call 9-1-1 for emergencies.**

If you have a *non-emergency* need, please contact the Cottonwood Dispatch Non-Emergency Line instead of calling individual firefighters, the Fire Chief, Police Chief, or other department personnel directly.

Here's why:
📞 Calling Dispatch immediately notifies all available emergency resources at the same time.
🤳Dispatchers can determine the appropriate response, notify firefighters 👨‍🚒, EMS⚕, law enforcement👮, or other agencies👷‍♂️👨🏽‍🏭👷🏻 as needed, and coordinate the necessary response efficiently.

When someone calls a department member directly, that person then has to contact Dispatch, or begin making additional phone calls to assemble a response team. Those extra steps take up time and can create unnecessary delays when time matters.

Whether you're a resident or just visiting our beautiful community:
🔥 Emergency? Call 9-1-1
☎️ Non-emergency? Call Dispatch's non-emergency number.
Using the proper channels helps us get the right resources to the right place as quickly and safely as possible.

Thank you for helping us help you, and for helping keep Jerome safe.
