Come explore 350 years of Jersey City history & nature. Sadly abandoned in 2007, The historic Cemetery is operated entirely by Volunteers.

The Historic Jersey City & Harsimus Cemetery, founded in 1829, is a National Treasure and is the resting place of soldiers from the Revolutionary & Civil Wars, the War of 1812, the Spanish-American War, WWI & II and Jersey City founders & legends. With no regular revenue, the site is operated on contributions and events that promote history, music, art, education & culture for children & adults. Nothing is more important to the success of our mission than the volunteers who have dedicated themselves the maintenance and restoration of our grounds.

Thank you to our volunteers who cleared away this large bush that had been blocked the LAWRENCE Head Stone.

Come Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 9 am for our all volunteer Cleanups.

Please join us on Memorial Day as we salute the servicemen and service women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.

Our tribute begins at 1pm with the presentation of the flag by The Samuel Shelton VFW Post 2294. Speeches from our dignitaries about the meaning of Memorial Day and a musical patriotic performance by The Belle Tones.

Additionally, we place flags on our veterans graves at the end of the services.
