Engagement with our local police department is crucial. It's important for our public safety, and it's also important for our quality of life. Everyone who lives in Harsimus Cove knows the importance of both, particularly with the large night life presence that the Pedestrian Plaza brings to our neighborhood. On November 28th at 7pm at MS4 join the JCPD East District to learn important updates and to raise questions on these issues.

Even though yesterday's all-day downpour scrubbed our own Afternoon of Fright, there is no shortage of Halloween events in and around our neighborhood tomorrow! In addition to trick-or-treating in Harsimus Cove, here are our picks:
HDSID's Family Halloween Bash on the Pedestrian Mall runs from 3 to 7 PM, with face-painting, a bouncy house, music, popcorn and lots of candy.
At 4 PM, Van Vorst Park Association hosts Halloween's Haunted Gazebo. There will be decorations, candy for the kiddies and hot cider for the adults. Free and fun for all.
At 7:30 PM, come to Halloween Night - Rocky Horror at the Jersey City Cemetery! with prizes, costumes, food, a bar, goody bags & cool Rocky Horror merch. Tickets are $15 at the cemetery gates, all for a great cause.

With a forecast of 100% chance of heavy rain and wind, unfortunately we have no choice but to cancel the 7th Annual Afternoon of Fright on Fourth Street. Since it's an outdoor block party and we have no alternate date, we will not be rescheduling the event this year. Wishing everyone a happy and safe Halloween. 🎃

Hello neighbors,
An ordinance is scheduled to be presented to the City Council in November that will change the parking rules for all residential parking zones in Downtown Jersey City in the following ways:
• Extend enforcement hours from 8 AM–5 PM to 8 AM–11 PM
• Allow non-permit parking for 3 hours. Currently it is 2 hours.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO? If you have an opinion on these amendments, please contact us as soon as possible at [email protected]. We apologize for the rush, but we just found out about both items being on the proposed ordinance this week.
Also, a reminder that Tuesday, November 7 is Election Day. Polls will be open from 6 AM to 8 PM in local and statewide races ranging from school board to Governor of New Jersey. We urge you to get out and vote—or lose your right to complain.
Wishing you a Happy Halloween,
Rachel Dsilva,
HCA President
