Still disappointed the JC Council decided to short change our communities and approved the weakest inclusionary zoning ordinance possible. Remembering back in 2017 when we were talking about the need for an inclusionary zoning ordinance.

It was a pleasure participating in last night's "Keeping the Heights Affordable" forum. In short, there are things that are being done and that we can do to keep the Heights affordable. From working with non-profit developers like New Jersey Community Capital to passing inclusionary zoning ordinances that require a given share of new construction to be affordable by people with low to moderate incomes. A major take away for me was that we need to come together as a community first and decide what we want! What do you think we need to keep the Heights affordable?

In the face of an affordable housing crisis the JC Council is voting to maintain the status quo. Our communities can not afford these sellouts. No surprises, the 7-2 vote in favor or an affordable housing ordinance that will not get Jersey City the affordable housing we need. Councilman Lavarro and Solomon being the only two dissenting votes and Council members taking a stand for the residents of Jersey City. Jermaine Robinson went on and on about needing to be able to negotiate community benefits like homeless shelters rather than affordable housing. I think he is missing the point, we want affordable housing to prevent people from becoming homeless.

We need long term affordability in Jersey City! Sign the petition to eliminate loopholes in the inclusionary ordinance: actionnetwork.org/petitions/jerseycityizo

Enough is Enough! PEOPLE OVER PROFITS!! I just signed a petition on the Action Network telling Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop, Council President Joyce Watterman, and the Municipal Council to put Jersey City residents before developers' profits! Jersey City is in crisis - an affordable housing crisis. Nearly half of all residents pay more....

We need our city government to be accountable to the people of Jersey City. Three days notice for the final vote on a highly controversial budget is unacceptable. City deserves better.
