York Street Project York Street Project uses innovative programs to shelter, feed, educate and promote the healing of women and their children. https://linktr.ee/YorkStreetProject

The York Street Project is a one-stop network of programs:

St. Mary's Residence: Affordable housing and support for working women with limited income. The Nurturing Place: A year-round licensed early childhood development center for children aged 4 months to 6 years whose mothers are at work or school. St. Joseph's Home: A safe and structured living environment for single mothers and their children that guides and supports them as they transition to new independent lives. Working with nearly 300 women and children each year, we are proud that this network of support enables 75% of our families to leave our Home and begin their journey to a new life of independence. This is made possible by the generosity of so many who provide cash or product donations, volunteer on-site, sponsor a field trip for our students, or spread the word. Please call, email, or visit our website to find out more.

We're getting ready for a little fall fun at York Street Project! 🎃

We are hoping to collect 30 pumpkins for the children to enjoy during our fall activities, and we would love help from our community. If you, a local farm, grocery store, business, or neighbor can donate one or more pumpkins, please email [email protected] to arrange a drop-off at York Street Project by October 25.

You can also share this post or tag someone who may be able to help us bring a little autumn spirit to York Street Project.

Thank you for helping make these moments possible!

Being heard matters. 💚

World Mental Health Day was October 10, but conversations about mental health, dignity, and access to support deserve attention beyond a single day.

Housing insecurity can bring uncertainty, stress, and barriers that affect an entire family. York Street Project provides emergency shelter, transitional housing, and affordable housing while working directly with residents as they move toward permanent housing of their own. Supportive services, including mental health support, are part of each step.

In 2024, 87% of adults who participated in our mental health services for depression showed improvement.

At York Street Project, we understand that support looks different for every person and family. Listening without judgment, respecting individual choices, and recognizing each person’s strengths are all part of creating a more compassionate community where people feel respected and heard.

Mental health matters, and so does creating spaces where people feel respected and heard.

What a night! ✨

Last Thursday night at Hudson House, our community came together for Celebration of Hope in support of the women, children, and families of York Street Project.

Thank you to everyone who filled the room, raised a paddle, volunteered their time, sponsored the evening, or helped bring the event to life. We were proud to honor Saint Peter’s Preparatory School with the Sister Kristin Funari Legacy of Hope Award and celebrate its commitment to our community.

A special thank you to our sponsors - Liberty National Foundation, Peace Ministries, Saint Peter’s Preparatory School, BNY, Carey & Co., Stifel, the Kim-Uy Family, the Pymm Family - and all our supporters.

The generosity shown last Thursday helps provides safe housing, early childhood education, job readiness, and comprehensive services that empower families to build lasting stability.

More photos and moments from Celebration of Hope are coming soon. 💛

That is what your ticket helps sustain: housing, childcare, job readiness, case management, and community.

In just TWO days, join us this THURSDAY, October 8, for Celebration of Hope from 6-10 pm, right here in Jersey City.

🎟️ Tickets are available now at the link in bio. A pair of tickets is $400.

Four programs. One address. One family does not have to navigate crisis, trauma, and rebuilding alone.

The Nurturing Place provides early childhood education while parents work, study, and build stability.

LEAP supports workforce development and helps create pathways toward financial independence.

Case management helps families navigate housing, benefits, employment, appointments, and the many logistics that can come with rebuilding after crisis or trauma.

Housing supports families throughout that process, from emergency shelter and transitional housing to supportive housing and Rapid Rehousing.

A family can walk into York Street Project and find these supports connected under one roof. That is by design. It is part of how we help families move from crisis toward long-term stability, and it is part of why 85% of families remain stably housed five years after Rapid Rehousing.

In less than one week, come see what that work looks like and be part of it. Celebration of Hope is October 8, from 6:00 to 10:00 PM, at Hudson House.

🎟️ Tickets are available at the link in our bio.

Leaving an abusive situation can mean making decisions about safety, housing, childcare, work, and family all at once.

One of our former residents shared “When I came to York Street Project, I was fleeing a domestic violence situation, and I was four months pregnant… They provided food, clothing, shelter, and, most importantly, safety.”

Our programs are built for what comes next: safe shelter, housing, childcare, case management, and support while a family rebuilds.

If you or someone you know needs help, the National Domestic Violence Hotline is available 24/7 at 1-800-799-7233.

Help us keep safe shelter available for women and families. Give at the link in our bio.

Every year at our Celebration of Hope Gala, we recognize people whose commitment to Jersey City families has been long, quiet, and consequential. This year, we are not just honoring an individual; we are honoring an institution.

Saint Peter's Preparatory School has been a longtime source of some of our most consistent and dedicated volunteers. Current students and alumni have contributed incredible work throughout the year and have also helped us prepare our building as we get ready to partner with a local charter school and share our grounds with their students.

We are proud to recognize St. Peter's Prep for the values it instills in its students, and the way those students carry that culture of service into the Hudson County community.

For this year's Celebration of Hope, we shall be awarding the Kristin Funari Legacy of Hope Award to St. Peter's; it is a small way of showing our gratitude for something which has meant a great deal to us.

If you have any connection with St. Peter's Prep or have passed the building and have wondered what the young people inside are like, we hope you will come and take part in our event. The Celebration of Hope will take place at Hudson House on October 8, and we look forward to having you at our ceremony.
