Paulus Hook Park update: the Exchange Place Alliance's drawings passed Historic Preservation, and the drawings now to go SHPO (state historic). The next generation may see a park yet!
Paulus Hook Park
Updates and information about the upcoming redesigned Paulus Hook Park being developed by the Historic Paulus Hook Association
12/06/2018
The Exchange Place Alliance unveiled its current, probably not final plans for Paulus Hook Park. I was told that only 3 of the corners will be developed, with the 4th (adjacent to PS16) needing more funding from the neighborhood or other private sources.
There are no meetings scheduled for public input.

To everyone who has been asking about the progress/status of Paulus Hook Park, and the redesign. The Historic Paulus Hook Association decided, for a number of reasons - some reasonable, some not - not to go forward with this design. There was pushback from the HPC, which may have been overcome, but we will never know. In the end, the organization was not comfortable moving forward with taking on what is an enormous responsibility for a small neighborhood association to take on, which is understandable. The project should really be the initiative of a conservancy, one that's dedicated to fundraising and moving forward the initiative. Currently there is none in place, but there may be in the future. It will take the energy and drive of dedicated people to make this happen. It's your park, and I hope some of you are motivated to attend HPHA meetings held on the first Thursday of every month 7:30, in the community room of Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, on Grand between Warren and Washington Streets. There you can find out if there are future plans for the park. I'm leaving this page up as an archive of a 10 year project that was shepherded along by many engaged people. It could have been a real asset to the neighborhood.

Give the gift of open space to our community!
Today on we ask you to help us reach our fundraising goal for the Paulus Hook Park.
As we near the end of planning, and begin the work on the park, we need you more than ever. We’ve raised over $500m in private funds, which puts us more than halfway there. But to add some of the amenities, such as climbing structures in children’s play areas, we need to raise another $300k.
With your support we can reach our goal and build a beautiful park for our neighborhood.
