Talk to your family. Learn what you can about the health history on both sides of your family, and share relevant information with your healthcare provider.

🎀 TODAY'S FACT: Dense breast tissue can make cancer more difficult to see on a mammogram, and having dense breasts is itself a risk factor for breast cancer.

Don't be afraid to ask your healthcare provider: “Do I have dense breasts, and what does that mean for me?”

Questions lead to conversations. Conversations lead to knowledge.

Over the weekend, I had the pleasure of attending a special Blindness Awareness Month event hosted by the Bayonne Lions Club in partnership with the City of Bayonne!

What a beautiful and meaningful gathering that brought community members together to listen, learn, connect, and gain a deeper understanding of the experiences, challenges, and contributions of individuals who are blind or visually impaired.

I was especially honored to share information about my legislation, S3786/A2132, which was recently signed into law by Governor Mikie Sherrill! This important law, which took effect on September 1, 2026, requires paratransit vehicle operators to announce stops for passengers.

This legislation is about more than announcing stops. It is about accessibility, independence, dignity, and ensuring that individuals with disabilities can navigate our transportation systems with greater confidence and safety. Every stop matters, and every passenger deserves to know where they are along their journey!

A special thank you to the Bayonne Lions Club and the City of Bayonne for organizing such an informative and impactful event. I also want to recognize and thank Bayonne Boy Scouts Troop 27 for volunteering their time and helping to make this wonderful gathering a success!

As we recognize October as Blindness Awareness Month, we must continue raising awareness about blindness, low vision, eye health, and the importance of creating more inclusive and accessible communities.

Awareness leads to understanding. Understanding leads to action. And action creates meaningful change!

I will continue advocating for legislation and policies that remove barriers, promote independence, and improve the quality of life for individuals with disabilities throughout New Jersey.

Together, let's continue building a New Jersey where accessibility and inclusion are priorities for ALL!
